    Question #1 is Emerson...What If #2's a Girl?

We have a two year old daughter named Emerson. We are expecting in a few weeks and haven't agreed on a girl's name (we didn't find out the baby's sex). The possibilities, so far, are Elsa, Arden, & Quincy.

    The requirements are:
    1. A name you can instantly pronounce when seeing it
    2. One that has at least one nickname possibility (Emerson is also Em, Emie, Ems, etc)
    3. A strong name (one that would work as well for a doctor or president as it would for a teacher or artist)

    Thanks everyone!!!
    Melanie

I like Elsa a lot, but it is vastly different in style from Emerson. I would either go with Arden or Quincy. More ideas:

    Emerson & Romilly nn Romy
    Emerson & Sheridan nn Sheri

Out of your names listed, I don't feel like Elsa matches. I prefer Quinn over Quincy, so I suppose my favorite out of your names would be Arden. Have you looked at other unisex names? Harper or Rowan would be a good match with Emerson.

Emerson and Arden sound nice together imo

    Emerson and Antonia (Toni)
Emerson and Theresa (Tess, Terri, etc..)
    Emerson and Sloane
    Emerson and Ruth (Rue, Ruthie)
    Emerson and Avery (Ava, Avie)
Emerson and Eleanor (these match more than Em and Elsa to me, but it might be a little close)

And throwing it out there, I like Emerson and Gertrude. I know people have very mixed feelings on that one, but its uber strong and Trudy is so sweet!

I forgot to mention that I really, really dislike one-syllable names. So, Quincy's nickname would be Quinn. Plus, I can't think of any nickname for Quinn. I like Harper and Rowan, but can't think of any nicknames for either.

Out of the names listed, I would go with Arden. I actually like Elsa the best, but it doesn't quite sound right with Emerson. I only like Quincy for a boy.
