I actually found Holt today on another site and thought it was cool. Third son coming in 8 weeks and we still haven't decided. We have sons named Wyatt and Cole.

    Good luck!

My first thought was Hoyt from Texas Chain Saw Massacre... Not too sure why. But I do think Holt is strong handsome name, I could see a southern family using it.

There is a hoity toity store here called Holt Renfrew, which has become synonymous with pretentiousness, so I'm sorry to say I can't like Holt.

Thanks everyone! I still like it, even though it will probably have to be a middle name. I'm a sucker for a name with a good meaning ;-)

As far as names that reference forests, I prefer Silas or the more direct (if somewhat obvious) Forest. As far as nature names, that are also H names, I like Heath and Hart. Tree names, I like Rowan and Linden.

Not very keen on Holt compared to any of these, honestly. I am not sure why I like Hart more since they are so close, but I do. Of course it may work the opposite way for you.
