I found out just because I wanted to know. I didn't like the idea of waiting for it to get here and be surprised. Another reason is because it would be easier to pick a name. I didn't want to spend a lot of time looking for a boy name only to find out I was having a girl.

I loved not finding out with number one! It was so fun for it to be a surprise. Also, all the gear you get from ppl is usually gender neutral in color, so you can use it again with a subsequent baby, even if it's the other gender. Same with clothes. There is plenty out there for babies that is white, yellow or green. After my first was born, the first thing I said was, is it a boy or girl?? It was a boy.

Now with number two, we felt like we needed to find out. Our son was dead set on a baby bro, and he doesn't love change, so we thought we better find out for his sake. It was a girl, so that gave us four mos to help him get used to the idea. It was great too bc there are so many cute things ppl want to give you for girls, hair bows, smocked dresses, etc. and if we hadn't found out I doubt we would have gotten as much of those cute things!
So there are advantages and benefits either way. It's just a personal choice!Mom to Seth Andrew and Madeline Frances
