    Help!

I am due soon, and I have baby name fatigue! I have an international family, so I like names that can be pronounced in several languages easily. Here is my name list:

Violetta - family name. everyone pronounces this differently. i say it the italian way, vyo-letta, as in adding "etta" to viola. i think vee-o-letta is nice too, although choppier. but when i say it, people come back with "oh, i love vie-o-letta!" which is not the name. will this end up being annoying for her?

Tallulah - i've adored this name for many years, and would call her Lula. but where i live (brooklyn), i feel like this is trendy & worry that in the future, she will a flash in the pan sounding name. granted, i plan on moving, but don't want her name to end up sounding dated. thoughts?

Capucine - a french flower name (capu-seen). when i say this, no one has an preconceptions. but no one says it's beautiful either... seems that it's just foreign sounding. no one thinks "capuccino" when i say it, only when it's read.

    Priscilla
    - i think this is such a pretty name, but it gets such a love/hate reaction. very opposite, people are either thinking oh, it's like a beautiful princess, or they think it is harsh and ugly sounding.

    Penelope
    - a lot of people really like this, and i added it b/c when i went to buy truffles, i was so taken with the "penelope" that i bought despite the flavor. *ha*ha*

Helena - (heh-lay-na) everyone is very "meh" on this one, but i kind of like it! is it boring?

Camille - a name i thought was pretty, but it comes off as just ok. not so crazy about it anymore.

this will probably be my only child, so i would love for her to have a name that makes people smile and say, oh, what a beautiful name. i really wanted to name her after a flower, but flower names seem to be either really popular (lily) or too out there (tulip).

    the last name is Eim

open to suggestions as well, please!!

    thank you!!!!!!!

I say Violetta just like you and I think it's gorgeous. I say Helena as hel-en-uh but I still think its beautiful. Penelope would be my third choice.

    1. Violetta
    2. Helena
    3. Penelope

I love love love, Penelope, Helena, Tallulah and Camille - in that order! I adore the nn Lula too.

Flower names that are neither too popular, or out there, that you may like:

    Dahlia
    Elodie
    Bryony
    Astera
    Magnolia
    Acacia
    Amaryllis
    Marguerite
    Zahara (means flower)
    Camellia (similar to Camille!)
    Jacinta
    Azalea
    Zinnia
    Delphine

Hope that helps! Best of luck

I like Violetta best, and it's a family name, so it has some significance. As for pronunciation, unless you live in Italy, no one's going to pronounce it like an Italian would, but the English pronunciation isn't so far from the Italian, is it?

Camille is one of my absolute favorites. It is not common, but not unheard of either. It is feminine and soft.

Thank you so much!!! It's funny because before I got pregnant, I was set on naming my daughter Elvis and calling her Elvie. Now that just seems too much! I've also been toying with the name Viola. It's fun thinking of names, but I feel like I'm getting burnt out & nothing seems quite right ~ thank you so much for all of your suggestions & thoughts!!!

My favorite is Camille. Although, I did know a very rude and obnoxious person named Camille (as a joke, her friends called her Camel), but I like the name because it makes me think Lady Camille of (insert place in Great Britain). I have a thing for the British, and if the name sounds beautiful and brilliant with Lady in front of it, I will almost certainly love it. Although, I do like the name Camilla more. It has a less harsh "eel" sound at the end, and sounds good with Lady in front of it ^-^

I just really like regal sounding names that don't necessarily have to be royalty.

Honestly, Priscilla makes me think of a very fussy person. Although, it does sound pretty with Lady in front of it! And Penelope is pretty, but it is so long that I would not want to use it on my children, but this isn't about my children! Although I would never use it for my children, I would love it if my little girl (or boy) knew a Penelope from class when they got older (I'm due in September! and I can't wait!). As for the other names, my least favorite is Tallulah, followed by Capucine (I'm just put off by the spelling and pronunciation), and finally Helena. I do like Violetta (your pronunciation is much better than the others, although too foreign sounding for me).

I think you can't go wrong with Violetta, Helena, or Penelope. Beautiful!

If you are looking for pretty flower names that are both a little unusual but not too out there, I think the following work:

    Azalea
    Dahlia
    Linnea
    Zinnia

I always thought Elettra was one of the most beautiful Italian names, and more wearable than Electra.

    Good luck!
