Please tell me this is still a boy's name!
Much to my dismay, I saw a post on another site yesterday about the name Elliot. Several parents commented about how they had chosen this name for their daughters. AH! It's the frontrunner for our SON! My question is, then, when you hear the name Elliot, with which gender do you associate it? Is the girl thing a fad? Will my son be awash in a sea of female Elliots? I do really like the name, but don't want him to feel like we gave him a girl's name. Help!

I'd immediately think boy, as I think most others in the U.S. would too, given its ranking on the U.S. social security popular names list for 2010. Elliot is at #301 for boys and no spelling of Elliot is even in the top 1000 for girls. Hopefully that will make you more confident to use it. I think it's an awesome name!

I think of it as a boys name as well. A friend of mine named her son Elliot about 8 months ago. I think it is an adorable name for a little boy!

It's a boy name. Not using it for fear of it becoming a girl's name is what turns it into a girl name. I love it for a boy and think it sounds terrible on a girl!

It is all boy to me, and one of my favorite boys names ever! I think it is an awful name for a girl, but that is just my opinion.

I am having the same problem with my boy names! They keep getting hijacked by girls! I have heard people using Elliot for a girl, but I still think it sounds like a boy only name. I am having that problem with Quinn. My husband and I both like it, but it is becoming more popular for girls, so i am debating scratching it from my list. My son's name is Everett and I have even heard people say it's a girl's name! At this rate there will be no boy's names left. I say go for it! It is a great boy's name, and the tv show won't be around forever. I hope this trend ends soon for our sons' sakes ;-) (Sorry, I honestly don't want to insult anyone if you like those names for a girl, it is just very frustrating for boy mamas.)
