I feel like the only reason this name is on the radar now is because of the Hunger Games. Even if that's not how you came across it, that's sort of the association, and will be even more so after the movie comes out. I'm not sure I'd like it if I found out my name was inspired by a SciFi book that was popular when I was born.

I live in Primrose Hill which is (or used to be) kind of a cool and very beautiful celebrity area of London. Actors and playwrites and fashion designers and authors and chefs all live here and it has exclusive shops and a stunning park overlooking central London. So the connection here isn't 'prim' and girlie but actually quite cool and even highbrow.
I also knew an older Primrose who was very a distinguished published scientist.
As a name it derives from the Latin prima rosa which means first rose so quite fitting for a firstborn daughter IMO. I see it along the same lines as Violet which is very popular!
Having said all that, and even with our placename connection, I wouldn't choose it even in the middle spot as I can't ignore it's prissy image :-(Mama to the awesome Milo Edward.

I love the name. It is the type of name I would use, but my husband would never use. She could always go by Rose - far more accepted by anyone out there if she isn't into her full name. But I think it is lovely.
