I think you should focus on: (1) finding a name you and your DH love and (2) does the name look and sound good with L & G? I know so many parents who choose classic names for the girls and then pick something more unusual for their boys (or vice versa). I love Iris and Ivy with your boys' names for different reasons: Iris is vintage and I like the "r" connection between the children. Ivy is sweet and spunky and the "y" in the name just looks good with L & G. Personally, I do think these two-syllable names are the best "fits" with your sons. As far as Beatrix is concerned, the name and spelling is more classic and mainstream but then again Lorcan is a form of Laurence and Gregor is a form of Gregory so I don't think it's a big issue.
    Hi Mischa

Yes, now that I really consider it I know a lot of families whose taste differs from obscure to classic depending on the gender they are naming. That makes me feel better, thanks.
I think we are closing in on Iris and Ivy. Which would you pick of these two? x

I would go with Iris, I'm afraid that Ivy is going to jump up in popularity because of Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby.

I personally love Iris with Gregor & Lorcan. The name Isis did pop into my head right after reading your first post. It seems to fit in really well with Gregor & Lorcan--Gregor, Lorcan, & Isis... It is not too 'out there'/popular in my opinion, and actually is quite close to both Avis and Iris, it seems like a perfect blend, actually! : )
    In current favor of...:
    Boys: Abel, Ian, Eamon
    Girls: Mary, Lena, Marin

Thanks, but I've never been particularly keen on Isis for some reason.
    Lorcan Gregor Iris
    Lorcan Gregor Ivy
Can't decide which is better. Ivy has family significance for us. Are any of the varant spellings of Ivy (Ivey, Ivie) considered legitimate?

I love Iris, and Beatrix too. Ivy just isn't as great as either.

Lorcan, Gregor and Saige ? Do the repeated G's throw the balance off? x

I love both Iris and Ivy but I slightly prefer Iris with Lorcan and Gregor. You can always take both names to the hospital with you and decide when you meet your daughter.
    All the best,
    Mischa.
