Due in less than a month! New ideas for Milo's sister...Sylvie Mae?

I posted a thread a while back called "a sister for Milo!" and got a lot of good feedback.

Since we have narrowed it down a bit and added some new ideas I'd like to get some more feedback hopefully! My husband tends to come up with "oh that sounds like ______" (insert worst interpretation of every name) when I suggest something. And then I dwell on it, even though I know his comments like this are usually ridiculous.

For instance I like the name: Sylvie Mae Rogers. He said, "oh you mean 'Silly'?"

Or I said, Isn't Daphne a nice name? And he said "don't you think she'll get called 'daffy' or 'daft'?"

I love Penelope but he says people might think of Kenny Rogers since she could be called 'Penny Rogers', but I argue that we don't have to give her that nickname. The nn 'Nell' instead.

When I mentioned something about Freya he said "oh that reminds me of Frida Kahlo which makes me think of hairy women."

My husband IS a really nice guy, but that's just where his brain goes I guess. Anyway, if anyone wants to calm my fears or confirm them about these names, that'd be great. I think this is our list we're coming down to (in order of favorites): (please think about names that go well with Milo and our last name Rogers.

    Daphne
    Sylvie
    Penelope
    Fiona
    Fern
    Alice
    Ivy
    Adelie
    Marigold

    with middle names

Jane, Mae (my grandmother's middle name), Sage, or Josephine

Thank you so much for helping us think about this!

Sylvie Mae is perfect for Milo! Sylvie Mae is such an adorable name seeing it made me contemplate adding Sylvie to my girls list! I don't get silly at all from it..

    Goodluck!

    My recommendation is ...

    Annabel [vs. Alice or Adelie]
    Daisy [vs. Daphne]
    Flora [vs. Fern or Fiona]
    *Ivy*
Nell, Phoebe or Poppy [vs. Penelope]
    *Milo*
    Sophie [vs. Sylvie]

... a sibset comprised of "hipster" names.

Thanks for the feedback! It's good to hear that Sylvie is likable I've also come across a couple more names today that may make it on to the list: Ada, Ophelia or Corina. BTW is it spelled Corinna or Corina? Ophelia seems a little too big/fancy of a name perhaps though....so hard to decide!

    Thx!

Hehe. I can SO relate. He sounds exactly like my husband. That's why so many of my favorite names get nixed time and again. =)

For what it's worth, I think Sylvie & Milo are super cute together. But from your new list, I really like Ada. Ada & Milo is adorable, my favorite of your options so far!

Daphne - works well with Milo, pretty name, was dated but i think it's not so much now - Daphne Sage/Jane Rodgers
Sylvie - same as Daphne, was only women 30-40 that had it but it's think it's good to use now, i prefer Sylvia though - Sylvie Josephine Rodgers
Penelope - I think this goes perfect with Milo and Rodgers, love, love, LOVE the nn Nell - Penelope Jane Rodgers
Fiona - For me this is really boring, but i live in Scotland and it's a really common Scottish name, i'm sure in the rest of world it's nowhere near as common - Fiona Mae Rodgers
Fern - really love this name and would have considered it for DD if there wasn't 2 very well-known ones in UK - Fern Josephine/Ophelia Rodgers
Alice - really starting to like this name - Alice Fern Rodgers/Alice Ophelia Rodgers/Alice Josephine Rodgers
Ivy - DD's name, i think it goes brilliant with Milo & Rodgers - Ivy Josephine Rodgers/Ivy Mae Rodgers
Adelie - not sure about this, i like Adeline, Adelaide, Adele but not come across this one
Marigold - Such a great name, in thsi vain have you considered Primrose or Rosemary? - Marigold Jane Rodgers

    with middle names

Jane, Mae (my grandmother's middle name), Sage, or Josephine

Ada, Ophelia or Corina - all 3 of these go with Milo, wish i had guts to use Ophelia, i think it's a really beautiful name. I think Portia would fit with other names on your list as well.

Ada Mae Rodgers - is divine and that's coming from someng who normally dislikes Mae
Ophelia Mae - flows like velvet
Corina Jane/Sage - like these combos.
Carrie-Anne mum of Ivy Fae expecting baby number 2 August 2012

Top contenders for baby number 2
Girls - Wren Calla, Wren Iris, Ember Sage
Boys - Felix Ulysses, Cormac James, Struan Innes

I love Sylvie! (but I think "Silly" is actually a cute nn so maybe I'm weird). Does your husband like Sylvia any better, because you could name her Sylvia Mae but call her Sylvie, (if you were really set on it). It sound like you have a lot of great ideas though. Good luck!

I also really love Penelope, and I think it goes great with Milo. I doubt her generation will associate her with Kenny Rodgers.
