I think Nina can stand on it's own. My fiance' niece is named Nina. It's not a nickname, it's her name.

I don't think that Nina needs to be lengthened. It stands alone just fine.

Yonina is Hebrew, its the feminine form of Yonah, which is Jonah. It means, like Jonah does, "dove."

I do think Nina could stand on its own, but Yonina is my favourite way to lengthen it. Jonah gets used a lot but Yonina hardly does (In English speaking countries).

My DD is Nina! We have had some people ask what it's short for, and they have all assumed Christina. I didn't know that it was a common NN for Christina before we named Nina. I like Nina on its own. :-)

There is a musical duo named Nina Sky, b/c the sisters are Nicole and Natalie. So you could do a first name-middle name thing, where the first name starts with Ni- and the middle name starts with Na-. VERY much a stretch, but it could work.

You can always use the Arthurian name Ninian, which could be shortened to Nina.

You should look in to Russian diminutive names, you might find it interesting

On topic, lol... Karenina (as in Anna Karenina, by Tolstoy); Nerida; Nadine/Nadina; Danina...
