Cyrus is my favorite: rough-and-tumble, rooted, boyish, sturdy. I suppose the names Cyan, Cymbeline, and Cyrano could get you there, too, but I still prefer Cyrus. If you don't mind changing the spelling, then Silas or Simon could get you the same-sounding nickname...

Cyrus. In the UK Cyril would be a name for a nerdy old man. Cyprus would onyl be the country and Cyprian is unheard of.

Cyrus, definitely! I love it. I like Cyprus and Cyprian, but Cyrus just feels more usable to me.

Another vote for Cyrus. I also really like the idea of Simon or Silas nn Si, though I don't know if that appeals to you. If you're really adventurous go for Cyril -- I've been waiting for it to make a comeback!
