Help with List!
I've got;
Delphine
Cordelia
Ottavia (love Olivia/Livia/literary pedigree of Octavia)
Gwendolen
Lyra
Flora
Calliope
Beatrix
Clementine
But I'm not sure where to go from here, as these all vary in style. I'm aiming for something sophisticated, strong, intelligent, uncommon and pretty! Too much to ask? Suggestions gladly welcomed.

These are all lovely in my view, but I truly think Lyra is a beautiful name that really meets all your aims. It just seems the perfect name for what you are looking for. I also think Gwendolyn, Clementine and Beatrix are very pretty although perhaps slightly difficult to pull off (potential middle names??). Best of Luck

Off your list I like:
Cordelia
Flora
Calliope
Beatrix
I don't understand the fascination with Clementine. It brings to mind little dirty mining children and fruit for me. Not a good combination, but that's just me. Delphine is a title they use for German royalty I'm pretty sure which is equivalent to naming your daughter Duchess or Princess to me.
Have you considered:
Minerva
Cornelia
Amabelle
Felicity
Augusta
Viola
Imogen
Isadora
Estelle/Estella?DH: Clifton Tyler 'Ty'
DS: Laikon Timothy
Me: Hannah Nicole
Girl: Tesla Lucille, Nova Simone, Petra Meredith, Liora Daphne, Zahara Marilyn, Pomona Roxanne, Ellowyn Claire, Shoshana Elizabeth, Doveva Lillian, Ramona Josephine, Onnaliese Irene, Vivienne Samantha, Heidi Rebecca
Boy: Locklyn Tyler, Hartel Steven, Saroyan Tyler, Desmond Steven, Roman Tyler, Leo Steven, Arden Tyler, Ezra Steven,
Odin Tyler, Gregory Steven, Zakarian Tyler, Jericho Steven, Warren Tyler, Theodore Steven

Sadly, I have considered most of the names suggested! I seriously considered Fiona, Imogen, Genevieve, and Maeve. So that is why I am posting; I feel like I am out of options! I also like Livana, but am not sure if there is enough history behind it.
(Clementine is too cutesy for me but has the vintage/British feel I love so that is why I put it there. Except for when it reminds me of the song, I guess!)
Perhaps I am suffering from name ennui! One of the names I really like is Livia, but I am a 90s child so Olivia was popular then, too. Ugh.
ETA; I sometimes believe that I'm searching for the unicorn of names, and should just go with Charlotte or something, but then I think "Wait, all these berries have children named Penelope and Wolfgang (etc) and I want a name that is as cool and distinctive as that!"Last edited by erose; February 25th, 2012 at 06:58 PM.

I get you! lol. I'd have to have 30 girls to use all the gorgeous names I love. Narrowing them down to just one is going to kill me when the day comes that I finally have a daughter of my own. Boy names aren't near as hard for me!
Unicorn Hunting:
Antoinette
Gemma
Neoma
Scarlett
Christabelle
Priscilla
Elodie
Allegra
Ellowyn

I like Cordelia, Ottavia (I personally prefer Octavia though. It's my most absolute favourite girls name :3 ), Gwendolen (though prefer Gwendoline spelling), Lyra, Beatrix and Clementine. (:
Hmm, I'm not too good with combo suggestions today unfortunately. I have Ivy Cordelia/Cordelia Ivy, Octavia Irene, Ophelia Beatrix Dove and Monroe/Harriet/Cecilia Alice Clementine on my list...also, my great-greandmother was named Gwendoline Winifred...Hmm, not that that really helps you.
