1. Angelica v Anneliese = Anneliese is so pretty. I can't shake the Rugrats association with Angelica, sorry!
2. Cecily v Celeste = Cecily flows better, Celeste sounds like it's got a rather harsh ending.
3. Rosaline v Rosanna = I personally prefer Rose on its own, but I'd go with Rosanna. She can be a Rosie or an Annie.
4. Jessamine v Tessa = Jessamine sounds too made up to me, I don't know why. I prefer Tessa, although it is more nicknamey.
5. Mira v Thea = Thea sounds incomplete as a full name, whereas Mira stands alone better.
6. Adeline v Seraphine (ad-uh-leen) = Adeline, though I'm not really a fan of either.
7. Maeve v Milena = Milena. Millie's a sweet nn, and Maeve's spelling just looks odd to me.
8. Aria v Tabitha = Tabitha. All I can think of with Aria are the Aria awards (Australian music awards), sorry.
Oh, and I'm from the UK.Last edited by essjay; February 26th, 2012 at 04:54 PM.

Oh this is brilliant but I still can't decide

I do think the illiteration in Milena Morgan works far better than in Mira Morgan or Maeve Morgan. Which sounds worse out of Mira or Maeve though? I would like to eliminate one of the M names at least. Milena might be my least favourite, but like I said it sounds best with Morgan so I'm tempted to keep it and lose either Mira or Maeve instead.
I think Tessa may go to. I can't decide between Jessamine and Tessa, but I prefer Tabitha to Tessa and think maybe those two are too close to use together too?
I was almost certain no one would vote for Angelica over Anneliese, but I've been pleasantly surprised! Which has left me even more confused :S I have a real soft spot for Angelica, but feel like Anneliese would be received better and possibly age better so I'm not sure what to do!
How does everyone naturally pronounce Rosaline
Thanks again

I'm in Australia

1. Angelica v Anneliese - Anneliese. To me, Angelica is sickly sweet and has the strong 'Rugrats' reference.
2. Cecily v Celeste - Cecily. I used to love Celeste but was put off by a famous case here in Australia where a father and daughter became a couple, had a child and named her Celeste. Unfortunately it was all over the news for a while and now I can only associate "Celeste" with "incest".
3. Rosaline v Rosanna - Rosaline. It's just SO pretty.
4. Jessamine v Tessa - I like them both but if I had to pick one I'd go for Tessa, just for the simplicity.
5. Mira v Thea - Thea. It just has more personality.
6. Adeline v Seraphine (ad-uh-leen) - I prefer Adeline but I think most people will try to pronounce it ad-uh-LINE.
7. Maeve v Milena - Maeve. So simple and lovely at the same time.
8. Aria v Tabitha - Tabitha, although I do like Aria as well.Current Favourites: Elodie, Elsa, Sophie, Nella, Anna, Rose, Charlotte, Ada, Louis, Dominic, Julian, Simon, Alan and Alistair.
Love but Can't/Won't Use: Emmanuelle, Autumn, Emily, April, Rosamund, Thomasin, May, Roscoe, Etienne, Emile, James, Quincy.

Thanks so much OldSienna! I think that's enough of a reason for me to take Celeste off the list to be honest, I don't want that kind of association with my child's name and I prefer Cecily as it is.
As for Aria, another Australian poster mention there are Australian music awards called Aria - would that make it weird for a child to be called Aria? Or is it no different to calling children Oscar or Emmy?27 year old name addict, dreaming of a future:

I've removed Celeste, Seraphine and Tessa thanks to your help
3 more to get rid of and I'm down to a managable 10. I'd like one of those to be an M name, but can't decide which sounds worst with our surname:
Maeve Morgan
Milena Morgan
Mira Morgan
I'm thinking maybe Mira since it is 2 syllables and has the strong "r" sound like Morgan - thoughts?
One will be a Rose name, but which at the moment I can't decide! And one will hopefully be an A name since I have so many of those! So now I'd pair them up as follows (and I've edited the orignal post to reflect this):
1. Angelica v Anneliese
2. Rosaline v Rosanna
3. Mira v Thea
4. Adeline v Aria
5. Maeve v Milena
6. Cecily v Jessamine (is the similar Sessa and Jessa sounds at the start too much to use together?)
And that leaves Tabitha safe
