Have you seen the movie "Noms de gens"? with Jacques Gamblin and Sara Forestier? Her character is named Baya Benmahmoud and I really fell in love with her first name after seeing it! Apparently Baya is an arab name that means "distinquished" but it also means fruit in Spanish and maybe something bad in Swahili? I dont know but I really came to love it! In case you are Muslim here is a link to names you might like: http://islamjeunesse.over-blog.com/c...ie-475554.html

I have friend's named Fatima and Khadija so I think those are great choices along with Maya, Laila, and of course Baya. Im not sure these names are what youre looking for and I dont know anything about Persian names but hopefully this helps!

I've also met girls named Munireh and Tahireh. They look a bit foreign, but the sounds are easy enough to say that you only need to hear it once and it sticks, especially with Munireh.

There may be some repeats, but here are Persian names besides those suggested (according to NB) that don't look too weird in English:

    Aleah
Alizeh (Alizee is a sound-alike French name, BUT big caveat: Alize is a low-price alcoholic beverage, so if it's familiar to English speakers, it will be for that. Still pretty though)
    Cyra
Esme (listed on NB as both French and persian, and very familiar to US ears: in the top 1000 and of course the Twilight thing)
Jessamine (a French take on Yasmin/Jasmine, I find it very pretty)
    Kyra (very familiar)
Parisa (very familiar, for better or worse, from Paris...so also Frenchy)
Rosetta (per NB...I guess I believe it?)
Sadira (not familiar...but very intuitive/not too weird)
    Zarina

    Good luck!

Jessamine Esme is delightful to me...

It looks like you have a lot of great suggestions! The one that jumped to mind right away for me (and which I don't think has been mentioned yet) is Nasrin. It's Iranian, and even though it would be unfamiliar to most Americans I think that it would translate really well. It has sort of a similar vibe to Jasmine or Yasmin, both of which are well established in the U.S, and to Nasim, which has some degree of exposure due to Nasim Pedrad's being on SNL. I'm just really fond of Nasrin. I think it's meaning is awesome. I'm honestly not sure how well it would work in French, however.

    My recommendation is ...

    Lila Jasmine

... Persian first and middle names well-known, loved and used by English-speakers.
