    Ways of Honouring Family

I was wondering if you Berries had any ways of honouring the following names, as I'm struggling to find names I'm satisfied with.

As an example, I want to honour a Jenny and I'm doing so by using Genevieve. Does anyone have any ideas for these names?

    Eileen
    Elizabeth (who goes by Lilly)
    Kay
    Amy
    Marie

    Thanks in advance

Ooh, fun! I love inventive ways to honor family.

Eileen - did you know Eileen's a form of Helen/Helena? I didn't until recently, which makes me so happy, since Eileen is my sister's MN and I love Helen names, haha. Particularly Eilidh, Helena, and Eleni. Technically, Elena's name could even be in honor of an Eileen. Otherwise, the only other way I've thought to honor my sister based off her MN is Madeleine--the last six letters in Madeleine are the same exact letters in Eileen, just jumbled up a bit!

Elizabeth - I would probably just go for an Elizabeth name, or a Lily variant here. i.e... Eliza, Eliska, Elise, Elisabetta, Elisabella, Isabelle/a, Lillian, Lilia, Liliana, Lilibet, Lilias, etc.

Kay - my only thought for this was Acacia. I think Acadia or Arcadia could work, too... or maybe even Camille? I would think you could do Camille nn Kay...

Amy - Amelia or Amelie, maybe? Or Amabel, Amalia/Amalie, Amaya, etc.

Marie - Marietta, Marielle, Mary, Maria, or maybe even something like Margot or Margaret?

    Good luck!

I also wanted to add that you might want to play around with their hobbies, birth stones, birth flowers, birth months, etc... Sometimes those types of things are usable. Rosamund for someone who loves horses, Wren for a bird-lover, Ruby for someone who loves the color red, etc...

Eileen- Eileen is an Irish variation of Helen, so I would consider Elena, Helen, Elaine or Alina, but you already have Elena. I had a friend with this name who pronounces it eye-leen, so I think Irene/Irina would work as well.

Elizabeth- there're so many beautiful names that could work. My favourites are Elspeth, Lisbeth (I know a sweet little girl with this name!), Elsa (my favourite, but unfortunately, too similar to Elena?), Isabelle/a and even some Lily names. I think Lilibet might be so sweet!

Kay- I've seen some girls named Acacia using Kay as nickname.

Amy- Just Amy. I think Amy is really cute!

Marie- I love Marie as middle name. To me, it's not a filler. How about Mary, Maria, Mia and Marianne?

    Good luck!

Eileen - Eileen is an Irish variation of Helen, so you've kind of already honoured your Eileen with Elena! Other variations you could think about are Helena, Nell, or just plain Helen, which is quite pretty on its own.

Elizabeth (who goes by Lilly) - For Elizabeth, the possibilities are virtually endless. The names Susan, Susannah and such actually mean Lily, so that's a definite option. You've also got virtually infinite variations of Elizabeth - my favourites of which are Eliska (ell-ISH-kah or eh-LISS-kah), Elisheva, Elspeth and Eliza. You could also go with Isabelle, Isobel, Isabel, Isabella, Bella, Belle and such, which are actually variations of Elizabeth.

Kay - Acacia is definitely my favourite to honour Kay, though Kate, Katie, Kat, Kathy/Kathie, Katherine, Kaylin, Kaytlin and other such variations would work too.

Amy - Amity was my first thought. Amelia and Amabel are also some good options. One of your favourites, Amélie, is very usable as well to honour Amy.

Marie - You could go with the ever-classic Mary, which is actually my favourite option, or variation Maria. Marie is also a common and quite pretty ending for hyphenated names, like Anne-Marie/Annemarie or Sophia-Marie, (my favourites). Maisy, Mamie, May/Mae and Molly are also some nice variations of Mary that you could use.

(Also felt I had to add that you could - for want of a better phrase - kill two birds with one stone with Amelia, who could go by Mia, honouring both Marie and Amy in a way.)

    Good luck!

    Eileen - Isla/Eila
Elizabeth (who goes by Lilly) - Lilias, Lilibet, Eliza, Liza, Bethany
Kay - i like this one on her own! Any name with a strong K sound would do.
Amy - Amity, Amelia, Amelie, Aimee
Marie - Amarie, Emary/Emorie/Emory, Mara, Marietta

I also like looking to things that the family liked (Hobbies, favorite colour etc) or you could look towards name meaning.

Actually, Eileen is the Anglicization of the Irish name: Eibhleann or Eibhlin, pronounced Ave-linn. So I would use Aveline to honor an Eileen.
My cousin honored her mother, Kay, by naming her daughter Kayla.
I like Libby as an alternative to Elizabeth.

I'm mainly playing with sound here.

Eileen: Isla was my first thought.
Elizabeth: Since she goes by Lilly... maybe Lilac? Or a form of Elizabeth like Elspeth or Lisbeth.
Kay: Katya? It's a stretch but it was my first thought.
    Amy: Amaya?
    Marie: Maren?
