I'm not a big HP girl (actually hate the series, but that's a whole different story, haha), but I love Aurora! Isabelle Aurora Grace is my top choice for a girl. I also like and would possibly consider (in the right combo) Luna, Hermione, Mirabella/Mirabelle, Araminta, Ginevra, Emmeline, Bellatrix (although I prefer Beatrix and Isabelle/Isabella/Annabel/Annabella/Mirabelle/Arabella), and Rowena.

I love some of them but wouldn't use them for certain reasons, others there is no way I would ever even consider them, haha.
Hermione - No. Too recognizable as a HP character, though lovely.
Ginevra - I love this name, but can't see using it on an actual child.
Luna - I would use it maybe as a middle name.
Andromeda - Middle name.
Celestina - Nope. Not my style.
Jocelind - Looks too made up.
Aurora - Love! This has been on my list for a while with the nn Rory.
Emmeline - Love this name. Is one of my neices, so won't be using it myself
Mirabella - Pretty, but not my style.
Lavender - I like this, but probably not enough to ever consider using it. Maybe in one of my stories.
Araminta - I really like this for some reason. Not sure if I would ever actually use it, though.
Bellatrix - Nope. And not just because the character is awful. I just don't care for the name.
Nymphadora - All I think is Nymphomaniac and Dora the Explorer. Though I love Tonks, her given name is just not on my radar.
Lysandra - I love the name Lysander for a boy, so I like this as well. But I think I'll leave it just on my boys list.
Narcissa - Narcissistic.
Elladora - Meh.
Marietta - A town in Pennsylvania where my two brothers-in-law are from.
Rowena - Love. Would totally use it.
Honoria - I prefer simple Honor, but likely wouldn't ever use that.
Pansy - Can't get past the way this one would be teased.
Minerva - Oh I love Professor McGonagall! Not sure if I could use the name though.
Astoria - Not my style. Plus, isn't there a hotel somewhere call the Astoria, or am I imagining that? It might have just been in a tv show, haha.
Melania - Love.
Augusta - Not my style.
Charity - This one and...
Merope - This one are really the only two I strongly dislike.
Edited to add these from a pp:
Padma - I would feel weird using this because it doesn't really fit my culture and I don't know how that would be perceived.
Ariana - Very pretty, but reminds me of an annoying character from Days of Our Lives, haha.
Daphne - Not awful, not sure I'd ever use it. Maybe for a pet!
Millicent - Nope. Dislike.
Fleur - Maybe a middle.
Gabrielle - Pretty, but not my style.
Lily - Lovely! Definitely a middle option for me.
Molly - One of my dogs growing up. A great name, but yeah. She was my puppy.Last edited by vicioustrollop9; February 11th, 2012 at 10:08 PM. Reason: To add more names...

Hermione - never.
Ginevra - no way. Ginny, maybe.
Luna - oh heck. no.
Andromeda - nice.
Celestina - pretty. Actually just met one but she's 10 yrs older than HP.
Jocelind - pretty.
Aurora - nice.
Emmeline - nice.
Mirabella - nice.
Lavender - yes!
Araminta - yes!
Bellatrix - never.
Nymphadora - no way.
Lysandra - pretty.
Narcissa - no way.
Elladora - smush name.
Marietta - pretty.
Rowena - usable.
Honoria - nice.
Pansy - wimpy.
Minerva - no way.
Astoria - LOVE this! I love visiting Astoria, OR but I hate that it get confused with Waldorf.
Melania - no.
Augusta - this no, August yessir!
Charity - not a virtue name I like.
Merope - nope.
Okay so basically I would only use a HP name it was one of a minor character only. I wouldn't want someone's first reaction to be, Oh - like in the movie HARRY POTTER? gag. Unless you have a dear Aunty Minerva Hermione I wouldn't touch the big names!! Lavender Honoria would be really nice though!“And remember, my sentimental friend, that a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.” L. Hermione, love this name but wouldn't use it on an actual child
Ginevra -- prefer Genvieve
Luna -- yes, I would use Luna. I know several kids named Luna
Andromeda -no
Celestina -- I prefer Celeste
Jocelind -- I love Joselin/Jocelyn and would use the Joselin spelling
Aurora -- I prefer Aurelia
Emmeline -- definitely would use
Mirabella -- no, too frilly for me
Lavender -- no
Araminta -- this is a family name, but I wouldn't use it
Bellatrix -- definitely not. Yikes, HBC in her fright wig!
Nymphadora -- another definite no. Nymphomaniacs, anyone?
Lysandra -- I don't like this or Lysander
Narcissa -- while I like the Catalan Narcis, I don't like the girl's version. I much prefer Jonquil
Elladora -- no
Marietta -- no. too much like Marietta Georgia
Rowena -- yes, I love Rowena. I love Ivanhoe!
Honoria -- yes and yes to Honour, which I prefer
Pansy -- no. I prefer Posy and Poppy
Minerva -- yes. Although I prefer Athena/Athina
Astoria -- as in Queens? And Jackson Heights? I don't think so.
Melania -- no. Melanie Wilkes, bleh
Augusta -- yes, I love Augusta. Makes me think of the great character Augusta Doe in Moore's opera
Charity -- no. I have several students named Charity though. I prefer the Catalan Merce.
Merope -- no
What happened to Katie and Parvinder?

Just be careful that if you are purposely using one of these names as a reference to Harry Potter, to choose a desirable character to be named after, I'll break it down:
No to:
Lavender, Pansy, Padma - ok seriously, those three are annoying!
Andromeda - pretty but I wouldn't actually name someone that.
Bellatrix - she's nuts. on the upside it's not a particularly bad name.
Merope, Lysandra, Charity - I personally just think these names are sort of ugly.
Narcissa- horrible name because of "narcissistic" so no, I don't think this ones very good
Nymphadora - ok not even she liked this name!
Yes to:
Hermione, Ginny, Luna - Kickass!
Celestina- that's such a pretty name! And since Celestina Warbeck is rarely mentioned it's not a big deal.
Jocelind, Aurora, Emmeline, Araminta, Elladora, Marietta, Minera, Augusta - These are all pretty and normal names so nothing wrong there.
Minerva and Rowena - BEST NAMES (After previously mentioned Kickass names) They are beautiful and the characters are pretty cool rolemodels. Even if McGonnagal does only give them 5 points for killing the troll first year...
I noticed you left out a couple really good ones which are also just names in general:
Molly
Fleur
Rita (Skeeter!!)
Myrtle (jk, I think that one's a no too)
Lily
Ariana
Gabrielle (Fleurs sis)
