Endymion?
I'm kind of copying someone else on a different naming forum by posting this, but I like this name too.
Do you think Endymion is useable? Copied from the other naming forum: "Derived from Greek ενδυειν (endyein) meaning "to dive into, to enter". In Greek mythology he was an Aeolian mortal loved by the moon goddess Selene, who asked Zeus to grant him eternal life. Zeus complied by putting him into an eternal sleep in a cave on Mount Latmos."
I first heard of the name Endymion from this book.
Combo ideas? I kind of like Endymion Arthur."Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few books should be chewed and digested thoroughly."

For me, it's definitely not usable and makes me think of the parade Endymion, because I live in New Orleans! (which by the way is next weekend! Woo hoo!). I think it's more of a guilty pleasure name, and only as a middle if it were used. I couldn't imagine it as a first, but maybe that's my bias.

Endymion is a really nice name. It's spunky and strong. You should totally name your child this. With an original name like that, he'll be very popular in school. And if he ever asks you, "Dad, how did you come up with my name?" You can always tell him the story about how Zeus put the Aeolian mortal into an eternal sleep in a cave on Mount Latmos. I'm sure he'll like that, and his name too.

I'm fairly sure I like it, but it also reminds me so much of Sailor Moon. I'm also not sure on pronunciation - I thought it had a long I sound in it, like en-dee-MY-on, but Behind the Name is saying that it's more like en-DIM-ee-on.
I think it may be a bit much for the first name spot, but I love it as a middle name - Arthur Endymion would be absolutely fantastic.

Not that this is a bad association, because I love this show, but all I think of is Sailor Moon as well. Which, naming a child that today it would likely be a non-issue as far as recognition, but I literally only clicked on this thread because of the connection. I kinda like it... but maybe more as a middle name.

I have never seen sailor moon so I haven't any idea what you are talking about haha. I also don't know what the parade is, I've never been to New Orleans.
