Since Greta is already a nickname for Margaret, I don't think it needs a nickname. Out of the two name you have, I prefer Greta, though if I'm completely honest, I prefer Margaret (Marguerite, Margarita) with the nickname Greta.

I prefer Greta. I agree with two pp's - it doesn't really need a nn and also, Gretchen is cute for Greta, although it makes the name longer and historically it's another nickname for Margaret/Margret (-chen is a German suffix meaning "little" for those who didn't know), so on some levels it's not completely intuitive. I wouldn't mind at all though.

    It's a stretch, but I can see
    Gigi (from the letter G)
    Gia (from the same logic)
Rhett (although I don't like it on a girl so much because of Rett's syndrome, but that's my weird medical knowledge speaking)
    Reta/Rita (another Margaret nickname).

    I also really like Greta.

Etta and Gigi are the only nick names I think would fit. However I think not having a nick name would be better.

I think Greta is very pretty.
    Wanting to be pregnant.
