Does anyone not think this is a horrible name?

My husband is dead set on naming our son Badger. Everyone I tell this to has the worst reaction! I actually like the name however, I don't want to give my son a name that people are going to cringe at for the rest of his life. Any advice or alternative suggestions would be appreciated!

Honestly, it's a bit ridiculous. I did cringe when I read your post, I think he would likely be bullied for this name, and I'm sure you wouldn't want that. If you don't mind my asking, what is the rationale behind wanting to name him Badger? There are plenty of lovely names out there, I just don't understand.

My only suggestion is to put it in the middle. I just don't think people will come around to it. Badgers are vicious and in case you didn't know, they don't give a $#!%.

I'm not sure that is what you want people to associate with your child. I do admit that it has a nice enough sound, but I don't think it works well for a name.

He likes the idea of having a fierce name that is unique. I think he has caught on with the animal names (ie wolf, bear, tiger) and has decided that Badger is next.

At least something like Wolf sounds masculine. Badger sounds clumsy and silly.

Apparently, they are macho names. No Badger.

I agree--I wouldn't want the image of a badger for my little boy! What about Bridger?

I think you will set your son up for a lifetime of teasing if you name him Badger, that is unkind, this is one time to nag your husband to change his mind.

What about Maximillian that gives the impression of a big strong fierce man.

    Or
    Wilfred nn of Wolf
    Wolfgang nn Wolf
Thor the God of Thunder (I wouldn't use it but it is better than Badger)

or just give him a normal name with a nn of something strong like Bear
