I was supposed to be a Jordana but my mom went through a three day labour, emergency C-section, and general anesthetic, and after that, she got rattled on the spelling! So I'm a slightly kreatived version.

If I were a boy, I was to be John Moses. But by the time my brother came along, 5 years later, he was not John Moses.

I'm surprised at how many people here like what they ended up with, because I can't stand it. Rose Elizabeth is... boring, and I hate being named after a flower when there are thousands of prettier names with nicer meanings than simply "this girl is named after a flower". My dad liked Meredith because of a childhood girlfriend of his... and I so wish I was a Meredith. Other names on the list were Charlotte and Grace (okay, but they're very boring), Millicent and Edith (and I was born in the 90s!)

For boys they liked Miles and Seamus, which are also really cool.
Boys: Leo * Edward * Alasdair * Ian * Malcolm

Girls: Sophie * Alana * Meredith * Fiona * Claire

I admit I wish I WERE a Jordana, spelt like that. It'd make things easier.

Or a Yosefa/Josepha/Josephine as that's the real translation of my Hebrew name, Jordana is a totally different name that just is also Hebrew and also starts with the same letters. My great-grandmother, who I was named after, was a Yosefa in Hebrew and a Jessie in English, I'm a Yosefa in Hebrew as well, why nobody said "the easiest English name for making Joseph feminine is Josephine," I have no idea.

I like everyone's stories! I was going to be a Rebecca until my mum got her way. I'm happy I'm not! I don't really like Beccy. My brother was going to be a Rebecca too until he was born and turned out to be a Daniel

If I were a boy I would've been Thomas James, TJ for short. When I was growing up there was a little horror on our street called Thomas so my parents decided not to use it for my other brother. Kind of glad of that as well. I know WAY too many Toms :/

My dad was a huge MJ fan and really wanted my name to be Billie Jean. My mom refused though and I ended up as Alexis Victoria instead. I would probably have been named Alexandra Victoria if it were up to my mom, but since my dad loves unisex names......

I don't really know what I would have been named if I were a boy. I have a brother named Zachary, but he has a different mother and he's also 9 years younger so I doubt I would have been named that.

I so nearly started a thread with this theme myself, always been intrigued!

I'm Catherine and very pleased neither of my parents got their way with other choices, Ruth (mum) or Miriam (dad). If I was a boy, I would have been Martin (uck).

My little brother is Jeffrey, but would have been Jennifer if he was a girl.

My parents had planned for me to be called a girly name like Rose or Daisy, but when I was born apparently I was "too ugly" (my mum actually admits this!), so I was named Jael instead. I ended up with the nn Jaely (Jay-Lee) as a baby, which is what everyone knows me as now. I've always hated my name, but I can't imagine being called anything else.

If I were a boy I would have been Michael.

My parents considered Ashley, Robin, Julianne, Paulette, Micaela, Sydney, and Francesca. I honestly dislike all of them, so I guess even though I don't like Nicole...it's not so bad.

I was going to be named Martha and be called Mattie, but my mom said every girl and her dog were being named that. So then it was either Mary-Ann or Anamarie. Went with Anamarie, because were french

If I was a boy, I would of been named Frederick nn Fritz.
