    Kingston for brother Quinton?

So we are currently trying to conceive our 2nd child, and we already have names picked out for both genders. For a boy, it's Kingston Elijah. The only problem is, our son is named Quinton, and I'm worried that Kingston will feminize Quinton (you know, king and queen). I have asked a few people and they have all said that if I hadn't mentioned it, it wouldn't have occured to them, but I'm still worried.
Both hubby and I really love Kingston. It was the name of a child that hubby used to know that has a special place in his heart, and for me it reminds me of Jamaica (which I've visited and absolutely love) and reggae music and sandy beaches...everytime I hear or think of the name it puts me in a happy place! We also both really like Gwen Stefani, and it just so happens her son is named Kingston too. Not sure if this matters, but although I'm Caucasian my hubby is from Africa so the child will have darker skin. And for some reason, to me, this makes the name even more suitable.
We have loved this name for years, before it became as popular, but in our area it hasn't caught on at all yet, so I'd like to be the first one

So what do you think? Will Kingston feminize Quinton? They will be at least 6 years apart so likely won't ever be in school together. Oh, and unlike most of you, I don't mind if names are matchy, so that's not an issue. I guess I'm looking for reassurance!

I didn't make the King/Queen connection - I only noticed that Quinton and Kingston are VERY similar names. I personally wouldn't want to use both because they sound so much alike, but if you love them and don't mind the similarity I see no reason to not use the name.

I didn't make the king queen connection at first either. They do sound a little similar. I really like the name Quinton, but don't care for Kingston at all. JMHO.

I think Kingston and Quinton are fine together. I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't pointed it out. The only way I could see this as an issue would be if you were going to call them King and Quin.

Quinton Vladimir is awesome, by the way.

Whoops, just saw that you had Kingston Elijah in the original post.

I would not have made the king/queen connection at all. To me Quinton is all boy, so I don't really think it can be feminized.

Thanks for the compliment on Quinton Vladimir! Vladimir is the given name of both my father and grandfather, who were born in the former Soviet Union. When they immigrated to Germany their names were changed to Waldemar, which is the Germanic version, and which I don't like nearly as much as Vladimir. So it was very honoring to my Dad that I gave my son his original name of which he'd been robbed. My grandfather also passed away a few months before my son's birth, so it was a very obvious choice. As for Quinton, it's the middle name of my hubby and his Dad, as well as his grandfather's first name. They are from Sierra Leone, Africa, and belong to the tribe of Creoles, which are returned slaves from North America. So I imagine there is a very rich history to this name as well. Man, naming my first child was easy!

I didn't see the king and queen either but how long would it take kids to spot it? Therefore as I think Quinton and Miles are meant for each other I would name him Miles Kingston.

    all the best,

Kingston and Quinton are both great names but together they sound so similar both having the 'ton' at the end but you mentioned this doesnt bother you so I guess the main issue is if they go by nn's King and Quin it sounds a bit funny. Might not be such a problem if they will be having such a large age gap and wont be going to school together. I love the pp suggestion of Miles Kingston, Quinton and Miles sounds great together and one name isnt more masculine than the other.

They are too matchy for my taste... even nn's King and Quin sound very similar.

However, I would have never made the King/Queen connection and I do not think it feminizes Quinton at all.

Wonderful history behind your son's name btw!
