My name is Annie Madeleine and I'm 18 years old. I'm the oldest of 9 kids and I've lived a life full of responsibility. My parents were breeders of children, that's for sure, but they weren't really good at raising them. I've always felt responsible for the well-being of my little brothers and sisters. I've worked odd and end jobs for as long as I can remember and have held a steady job all through high school. Now that I've graduated, I want to go to college with the money I've been saving up, but I'm afraid to leave the little ones behind and they don't want me to leave either. My little brother, Benjamin Aidan "Benji" promises he'll look out for them and call me if he needs my help. He's followed in my footsteps in caring for them, which isn't hard to imagine, since he's only a year younger than me. The two of us are the real parents in this family. He convinces me to follow my dreams.

I have brown hair and green eyes. This is me:

I currently live in Cary, North Carolina. I'm going to the Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona where I will be majoring in Art & Art History.

Over the next few months I sucessfully adjust to college life. My roommate has become my best friend. Her name is Isobel Arianne and also happens to have a couple of classes with me too. She's introduced me to some of her friends. One of which is a cute boy. His name is Harrison Kitt "Harry", he has blonde hair and blue eyes. He's from Little Rock, Arkansas and he's majoring in English Literature.

After 3 more months I start to wonder if Harry sees me as more than a friend. I've been to a couple of parties with him and he seems to me near me at almost any given moment. Of course, I don't mind one bit, but I'd like to know for sure. I want to ask him how he feels, but I'm too scared and nervous. So I talk to Isobel about him. She tells her boyfriend, who in turn tells Harry. Now that he knows I see him the same way he sees me, the next time he sees me, he confesses his feelings. I couldn't be happier. The two of us are now officially dating.

I call Benji and tell him. Benji wants to meet Harry right away. I convince Benji to wait until the semester's over. Then I talk to Harry about flying home with me after the semester's over to meet my brother. Harry suggests meeting the whole family, instead of just my brother. I'm embarrassed by my background, so I tell him that my parents won't be able to make it. I call my friend back home, Sydney Kristen, and ask her if I can use her house to pretend it's mine. I'm too embarrassed and ashamed of my own raggedy house to have my boyfriend see it in the shambles it's in. She agrees. I call my brother and explain that he is to bring only the sister directly under him in age, Fiona Megan. None of the other children are to come. I'm afraid my younger siblings may scare him off. Benji agrees.

The months leading up the the big event make my stomach churn, but I'm always happy and carefree whenever I'm around Harry. Finally the big day is here. The two of us fly back to my hometown of Cary. We take a taxi from the airport to Sydney's house, implying to Harry that it's my own. When we get there, the first thing I do is fly into Benji's arms. Then Fiona comes out. I introduce Harry to them. We all head out to dinner at a local diner and I'm so pleased to see how well my siblings are getting along with Harry.

At the end of the night, the two of us expire to our hotel room. This is the first night the two of us spend together completely alone. Dorm rooms don't really have much privacy. The two of us enjoy the privacy so much, we don't even leave the hotel the next day. But the day after that is our last day in town. We don't have enough money to spend 3 nights at a hotel, but we don't have anywhere else to stay. So the two of us spend the next day hanging out with my brother. I hate leaving him behind, but I have to and as I'm hugging him goodbye, he tells me that he thinks Harry is a great guy.

We return to Flagstaff, happy about the visit and my college life resumes.
