Abela Lincola - I think Abela could actually be a quite nice name, but Abela Lincola is just dumb.
Aeryn - I actually think Aerin is pretty nice. I definitely prefer Erin, but Aerin looks kind of cool too. Not with a Y though.
Afrika - It's really not AS bad as some of the other names on the list-
Afrodite - Same as Afrika. At least it's a real name.
Antigone - I actually think it's okay. If you pronounce it right, it sounds good to me.
Avalanche - There's something nice about it... It's kind of a mix of Avalon and Blanche which are decent names, but Avalanche is just a tad bit too much.
Branwen - No way! This is a beautiful name! I do prefer Bronwen, but I like this too.
Chord - I think it sounds decent. It's definitely not as bad as many of the other names.
Crue - I'm not sure why, but I actually like this.
Halo - I do think this is cringeworthy, but if you only think of how it sounds it's not that bad!
Kroix - If it was spelled Croix, I actually think I would kind of like it. That might just be because I like the look of X's in names.
Loux - If only this was Lou, Lux or Roux, I would LOVE it. So close, but yet so far.
Mimosa - I think this is such a beautiful word, but I don't think I would call a child that. It looks nice though.
Nirvana - I'm not sure why this is considered a bad name. It looks pretty, it sounds pretty, the meaning is great and if you like the band Nirvana surely that wouldn't be a problem either. I think it looks much better than Heaven and it's not even half as cringeworthy.
Valhalla - Being danish and a big fan of norse mythology I actually love it. Not as a name though.
Vegan - If it didn't have a meaning I think it would be okay! It sounds nice. Like a softer version of Tegan. Obviously the meaning completely puts me off of it.
Zero - Of course the meaning makes it completely unacceptable for a human being, but I think the sound of it is cool! But I can only imagine how horrible it would be for a person to have that name.

The stupid-est ones are Clitoria and Labiya :') Along with Fanny, Lesbia and Dick... there are some unfortunate kids out there.
    William - Alexander - Peter - Joseph - Thomas

Fanny and Dick are legitimate nns for Frances and Richard, it's just our times have devolved these names into anatomical words.

There are a number of Welsh and Hebrew names on here that are perfectly legitimate, along with legitimate spellings of names from Slavic languages, so clearly the person who compiled this list is an ignoramus. Yes, there are some clearly "unique" names in terms of spellings but I teach school and this sort of thing is sadly familiar. There are a thousand different versions of Renee, for example. As for La-a being an urban legend, come to Escambia County, Florida and meet my students. And then meet the children of my students. It's not racist to report the truth, my dear. My students, particularly my African American students, believe that a child's name can be any sound they like to hear, and since they have never been taught phonics (it's not on our curriculum), they don't know how to create, in English, the sounds they hear. Furthermore, the argument is, and I quote, "First of all, it's a name. You can say it and spell it anyway you like. And I can name my child anything I want because it's MY CHILD." So, that's where the so-called unique names and spellings come from. Today's teens don't believe that there are correct spellings for names because it's a name, and you can spell it the way you want to.

Lastly, the name Michal -- my Hebrew name -- is not pronounced MEE-SHAL. Gah! It is MEE-CHAHL, with the "ch" being the traditional "ch" sound that one uses in Chaim, Chanukah, etc. The "sh" sound is spelled completely differently in Hebrew. And there is no relationship between Michal and Michael or Michelle. Michal means brook; Michael means one who is like El (G-d).

Yeah, my definition of "awful" is definitely different than a lot of the names on this list. Yes - some of them are clearly bad, but a lot of them are perfectly nice names, just different than what you see in the US.

I saw President on that list... President [Last Name] seems a little selfish like, "yay the family has a president! LOL". Also, what happens if he does become president? It can also be said for Princess and Doctor. Status names should never be baby names.
