I have a few nicknames that are used on occasion. Mostly the typical ones that can derive from Natalie, primarily Nata and Nattie. My brother and some of my close friends often call me Saff though; Saff deriving from Saffron, a different screen name of mine. I enjoy having nicknames people close to me use, but it would feel weird to me for someone I don't know very well to go up and say, "Heya Saff!" or something like that. I mostly try to have those I'm not acquainted with (in real life anyway) to just cal me Natalie. For me, nicknames are kind of personal.

My name is Rebecca and while I like Becky for other people, it's not for me! I've been Rebecca my whole life and lately my group of friends has taken to calling me Bex. I don't mind that one
When I do have children I would want room for a nickname. I love the name Miranda for that (Mira, Miri, Randa...) I think Kate Moss's sister's name is Charlotte and she goes by Lottie. I don't hear that used as much in the U.S. but I think it's a cute nickname.

My name is Bronté (Bron-Tay) and my coach always called my Bronty (Bron-Tee) but when he said it it sounded like Bronny, or Bronnie (Bron-Nee). I thought it was cool because my teammates started calling me that and it was fun... but now ot's starting to sound so whiney to me, I much prefer to be called my name, Bronté, and to have it pronounced correctly. Also it has spread and more of my friends from school have started calling me Bronnie, and I don't want people to think my name is Bronwyn or something like that, I think Bronté is a much nicer name.
I have also been called Brontosaurus by mates, or 'B' - one my sister gave me, because I started referring to everyone as 'Gee' - "Yeah Gee, cool Gee, guts Gee" - to me it is like calling someone mate, dude, or Bro, and my sisters' name is Georgia, so she thought I was calling her G because of that (:. I also get called Bronty Boo-Boo, Tiger, and Champ by my Dad. Most people call me Bronté or Brontz/Bronts and that's the way I like it

My family only call me Karen (though my brother will write Ren on my birthday cards) but my friends call me Ren, Renny, Renny-Penny, Holly, Hols and Llama.
My best friends - bar one - all have the same situation as me. Their family call them one thing but we call them another and would never dream of using their official name because we never have. For example:
Josci (jo-see), Jos, Juicy, Juicy Fruit, Fruit Loops, Loops etc
Morganna, Morgs, Moegs, Mo-eggs, Moose, Moosechops, Moosepie etc
Valentina, Val, Vel, Vellykins etc
Angel, Ang (like the start of Angel)
Jamie, Jay.
...and none of those are their official names. Though Angel's, Valentina's and Jamie's are very close.Current Favourite Name Combos
BOYS: Joseph Rory Michael "Jory", Edmond John Meirion "Ned", August Eli Benedict
GIRLS: Aira Rose Adelaide, Eilidh Clara Valentine, Bridie Scarlett Viola
Looking for beta readers for my novel at: http://theselfinvention.blogspot.co.uk/ - Prologue and Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 now up.
