Re: Common teen names now, straight from the source

I agree with the poster who said that geographical where-abouts has a lot to do with it. I'm a British teen, and I know TONS of people my age with these names:

    Emily
    Hannah
    Jessica (!!)
    Katie
    Charlotte
    Chloe
    Alice (and an Alys)
    Lauren
    Sophie (no Sophias, though)
    Rebecca
    Abby/Abigail
    Megan

    Alexander/Alex
    Jack
    Benjamin/Ben
    Oliver/Oli
    Matthew
    James
    Harry
    Joseph/Joe

No Brodys, Codys, Tylers, Austins or what I would call 'American' names. No Kaylee/Kayleigh/Kaili, Ashleys, Brittanys or Courtneys either. In all honesty, they're all seen as very low class names here in the UK.
close to my heart / future darlings
    Rufus - Emmett - Amadeus - Wilfrid - Eoghan - Huw
Estella - Oona - Jemima - Eilidh - Effy- Billie

Re: Common teen names now, straight from the source

I'm going to be a sophomore in high school come September, and I have a variety of names in my class. There are four girls named Sara(h) in my class, but that's by far the most common. I know two girls whose names are Claire and Clare. There are also two girls named Erika(!) in my class.
In my elementary school, there were only about twenty kids in my entire grade, so we almost never had duplicate names. There were once two girls named Elizabeth, but one went by Liz. There were also two boys named Luke for a year. Just Luke, though.
"When the light falls on your face, don't let it change you
When the stars get in your eyes, don't let it blind you
You're beautiful, just the way you are
And I love it all, every line and every scar"
