Thread: The Nanny

  1. #76

    Red face

My name is Hunter Bailey. I'm a junior at University of Missouri and 21 years old and I needed a summer job. One time, I complained about my job situation to one of my professors, Mr. O'Rielly, and he said that his cousin is looking for a new nanny. Back then, I liked kids but being a nanny didn't sound appealing. But I was desperate to get out of the debt I was swimming in, and my professor had put in a good word for me and I had landed an interview with the man's security.

Two weeks after the interview, I was called back to answer some follow up questions. I passed the first part, now comes the real test. How I interacted with the boss' children.

There were two boys and two girls. The boys names were Jonas Elezar and Levi Gideon. The girls names were Emeline Verity and Temperance Lydia.

Emeline Verity Cooper was 1 year old.
Jonas Elezar Cooper was 2 years old.
Temerance Lydia Cooper was 2 years old.
Levi Gideon Cooper was 5 years old.

To my surprise, the children were very nice and well behaved. They took an instant liking to me, and I liked them as well. According to the security, the boss was please and I was scheduled to be the Cooper's new live-in nanny as soon as school let out.

The house was big and extravagant. There was an indoor pool, movie theater, and even bowling alley. The whole thing had to be about 15,000 square feet. My room was more like a suite. Along with a bedroom, it came with a small sitting room with a TV, a grand bathroom, and a tiny kitchen.

The family lived in St. Louis, an hour away from where my college campus is located. The first day I had started was the first day I met my boss. My boss, Ryan Cooper, was an attractive, well dressed business man in his early thirties. He was nice and paid well. He gave me all the necessities to look after the children during the day.

But I was simply the nanny. He was a great father. He worked normal business hours and was almost always home for dinner and never missed a bedtime.

For the rest of the summer, I went on day trips with the kids and, more often than not, their dad would tag along. But as the new school term approaches, I had talked to Mr. Cooper regarding my work schedule. I wanted to continue to be the children's nanny, but I was worried it would interfere with my schooling. He understood and we came up with an agreement: I'll be a back-up for the new nanny, who was the runner-up after me, in case she gets fired or is on vacation.

Two months into my final year of college, I got a surprising phone call from Mr.Cooper. He asked if I was doing anything Saturday night. I had said no, I had the night off from my new job, a waitress at a local coffee shop. He wanted to know if I would like to go out to dinner with him. I was caught off guard, no clue to how to respond to something as ironically cliche as dating the nanny. He admitted he had been thinking a lot about me lately and apologizes if he had bothered me with the idea of dinner. I reassured him that it was OK and said yes to dinner.

Well, the date had turned to dates. And by the end of my senior year in college, I had moved into his home being his girlfriend, not his nanny. The children loved me and I loved them along with their father. He was kind and treated me right. He told me that he didn't care what job I wanted, and that he didn't expect me to be a stay home mom or come work at the family firm. I decided I wanted to stay home and watch the kids for now. I had started a small writing career on the side, I wanted to be an author, but my main priority were the kids.

We dated for 2 years before popped the question on Valentine's Day. We had a large vacation wedding at Barcelona, Spain.

Ryan and I stayed another week for a small honeymoon when the guests left for home and the in-laws took the children back. Three months after I came home, I found out I was pregnant. We weren't expecting children so soon, but we were happy nonetheless.

I gave birth to a girl named Adelaide Charlotte.

Four years after Adelaide was born, Levi, who is 12, came home from school very upset. He swears he saw his mother watching him as he was leaving school. Sure enough, an hour later, Ryan's ex-wife, Crystal, showed up at the door 8 and a half months pregnant. Crystal said that her latest husband left her, she cannot on under any circumstances raise this child because she knows she'll do an awful job and motherhood just isn't for her. She thought it would be a good idea to be with its half siblings. With one look at Crystal you can tell she's in bad shape. So Ryan and I agreed to raise the child. It was twin girls named Evangeline Marjorie and Gabrielle Paige. We adopted them.

A week after the birth, Crystal had overdosed and died.

Then 6 weeks later we found out I was pregnant.

I found out I was pregnant with twin boys.

Their names are Nicolas Slater and Nathaniel Paxton.

3 years later, an event happens that stirs up my family. I discover that I have a teenage half sister in need of guardianship. Ryan and I taker her in and her name is Gracelyn.

Gracelyn is wild and rebellious, but I expected that since she's grown up in foster care for most of her life. My mom was mad at me for taking in my father's illegitimate child, but I know I did the right thing. Once my sister realized she's not going anywhere, she settles down and her behavior changes. Then, she finds out she's pregnant--and she doesn't know who the father is. Ryan and I didn't know what to think, but we supported her decision to keep her baby and promised to do whatever I could to help her. The day after my sister found out she's pregnant, I find out I'm pregnant.

My baby is a girl and I name her Peyton Lux.

Gracelyn had a girl and she named her Natalie Ava.

You've never seen Mrs. Judd and you're wondering where she is. The housekeeper tells you that the misses left the boss for a former business partner two years ago. She signed over all her parental rights to her ex-husband and no one has heard from her since. Ian works normal business hours and is always home before his kids go to bed. You like him--a lot.

While your boss takes the kids out for a day to give you some time off, you use the opportunity to interrogate the housekeeper, Mariela. You've never seen Mrs. York and you're wondering where she is. The housekeeper tells you that the misses left the boss for a former business partner two years ago. She signed over all her parental rights to her ex-husband and no one has heard from her since. The housekeeper also mentions that before the divorce, the boss was so caught up in his family's business firm he hardly paid attention to the kids. But since their mother left, he feels awful, as he feels it's his fault, and indulges the children with whatever they want.

For the rest of the summer, you go on day trips with the kids and, more often than not, their dad tags along. But as the new school term approaches, you talk to your boss regarding your work schedule. You want to continue to be the children's nanny, but you're worried it could interfere with your schooling. He understands and you two come to an agreement: you'll be a back-up for the new nanny, who was the runner-up after you, in case she gets fired or is on vacation.

Two months into your final year of college, you get a surprising phone call from Ian. He asks if you're doing anything Saturday night. You say no, you have the night off from your new job, a waitress at a local coffee shop. He wants to know if you would like to go out to dinner with him. You're caught off guard, no clue to how to respond to something as ironically cliche as dating the nanny. He admits he's been thinking a lot about you lately and apologizes if he's bothered you. You reassure him it's OK and say yes to dinner.

    Dated: 1 year

After you graduate from college, you move in with Ian and his kids, but as his new girlfriend, not the nanny. The children love you and you love them, as well as their father. He lets you have your own career as a midwife and doesn't expect you to come work for him at his family's firm or be a trophy wife, which makes you love him more. On a special holiday, he asks you to marry him, and a year later the two of you have a large, glamorous vacation wedding.

Sure enough, an hour later, your husband's ex-wife, Stephanie, is at the front door. She is eight and a half-months pregnant. She says that her latest husband left her after she found out she was pregnant. She doesn't want the baby, but feels that it should be with its half-siblings. You can tell this woman is trouble and leaving a child with her would be a bad idea. DH agrees and you adopt the baby(s) after they are born. The mother disappears, but 6 months later, your husband receives word that the woman accidentally overdosed and died. Then, 3 weeks later, you find out you're pregnant.
