I like it. I has a modern sound but I like the medieval and celtic vibes I get from it. I prefer the spelling Brecan.

It does have a cool vibe to it. There aren't a lot of Br- names that appeal to me right now, but Breccan does. I also like Beckett and Declan, which have a similar feel to me.

I really want to love this name, I love how it has history, the meaning is cute, it fits in with today's trends while still being unique and not overheard. But for some reason all I hear when I read the name is the word 'bracken' which is a shame because I really think it could be a lovely name

St. Breccan was an early 6th century Irish saint who was baptised by St. Patrick. He was the son of the Prince of Thomond (in Limerick) and grandson of the first Christian ruler of that territory. The townland of Ardbraccan (in County Meath, Ireland) attributes it's name to St. Breccan. He wrote some prophecies about Ireland's wars and the coming of the Anglo-Normans to Ireland. When he heard that the Oirghialla (an ancient and degenerate tribe) lived around Ardbraccan he swore that he would convert them to Christianity. He was successful in this. He finally went to the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway and and founded Temple Breccan on Inis Mhor - the largest of the Aran Islands and is buried there. Breccan is an Irish boys name and is pronounced Breck-Ann. Hope this helps.
