    Re: hmm what about Junia??

I do love this name, as well as Juno. How would you be pronouncing this? I have seen it pronounced "Yoo-knee-uh'/'Yoo-nyuh' but always thought it would be pronounced with the 'J' sound in the states, as Juno is...like 'Joon-yuh'/'Joon-knee-uh'.
I like the name with the 'J' sound at the beginning, but not nearly as much with the 'U' sound.
    Just something to consider!!

Love! It really is a rare gem! I would love to meet a little Junia. I pronounce it joo-nee-uh, like Julia with an N. I love Junie so much, but June is too short and Juno is too out-there (for me), Junia is a great balance. Nice choice, I hope you use it!

I second this motion. I'm afraid many people will hear Junior -- one from my "My Most Hated Names" list. Not that Junia isn't pretty and refreshing, just too easy to mishear. How do you feel about Juno?

    I pronounce it Joon-ee-uh, like Julia with a N.
Southern accent its a good consideration. I can totally see it with the joon-ya prn, but or would it be prn like that anyway there?
Somehow Junia reminds me of petunia which I think is adorable!

This is my hesitation with Junia, too. I have a pretty standard US accent, but it definitely made me think of Junior. It does sound very pretty when said with three distinct syllables, though. The Junior thing may not be a big deal, and I do like the name! Have you considered June, nn Junie?

I think Junia is such a lovely name, and very feminine!

    Re: hmm what about Junia??

So I just asked my friend who has a thick southern accent and she doesn't get the Junior vibe. I heard her say it with 3 distinct syllables, so Im not worried about it too much.
im not a fan of Juno. Seems slightly cheap to me, sorry..
June on its own I still get the stereotypical 50s impression, so I like it better as a mn or nn
Juniper tho adorable sirens more suited as a pet name, again sorry.
but when I first heard Junia I thought it was unusual but really pretty and up my alley. And nn Junie is sooo adorable. Goes great with Tessi and Kai.

I've been thinking about this name a lot lately too, and am happy to see others' favorable impressions. My main question was about pronunciation. I say it more to rhyme with petunia, more like 2.5 than a full 3. But I think it is a beautiful, underused name!

While I don't think the pronunciation is an issue, it did feel a little odd to me to have effectively both June and May in a name. Probably overthinking, and she's unlikely to use all of them together very often.

Just don't name your next son Julius August!

i did think of that too, another reason for Junia and not june. Mns are to honor fam, and 2 nd mn isnt used that much, so its not an issue for me. Had to say I laughed at Julius August. Don't worry, that won't happen : D
    Thanks for pointing that out!
