Re: Nervous about our front runner...

I really like the name Sunday. But I wouldn't go with Sunday Grace, because of that old saying "Sunday's child is full of grace, Monday's child is..." Isn't that how it went?

Well Sunday is not my cup of tea, but then again I like very few word names. The name has a very religious vibe to me, maybe because it makes me think of church and maybe because Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman chose Faith for their second daughter. If you are religious then the connection isnt a bad thing, if your not it might be hard to explain. Sunday Kate has a better flow imo.

I love the name Sunday, it's so bright & sunny and I can just imagine it on a happy little girl, that being said, there will be people who won't like the name but I think that's a risk you take with any name especially a name out of the mainstream. But people will come to see it more as your daughters name as they get to know her

I just wanted to say that I totally understand what you mean about being gun shy. Sunday is a name that will illicit opinions and reactions no matter what (as you can see even from this board!)--- probably for you and your child for a very long time.

I think that the ultimate factor in whether you use it or not will be how strongly you feel about the name. If you love, love, LOVE it and have no doubts, than the naysayers will just bounce right off you because you will know the name is perfect for your daughter. BUT if you have any doubts, you might take opinions personally and end up second-guessing your choice.

Good luck! It's always hard to be "the first" to use an unusual name, but names that are different are part of what makes life so rich!!! Looking forward to the birth notice and your final decision!!!

I grew up with a Sunday. She never was teased (though was occasionally asked if she was born on a Sunday). She is now over 40, so her name was certainly wasn't "celebrity-inspired". Sunday is a name that has been rarely but consistently used for a few decades. I LOVE the choice (what a beautiful day of the week), however I do see how some people may think you are following a celebrity trend.

Thanks so much for your all the support and your honesty. I do love this name but I'm not 100% just yet. Love the last comment from Mishimee, this is exactly how I feel. I will keep you posted!

Love Love Sunday. I was bummed when Nicole Kidman used it, bc that's a killer for me, personally.
You should totally use it. I think it is beautiful and understated.
I personally also love word names, and I particularly love day/month names (I'd very seriously consider naming a child Tuesday if I had even the tiniest shred of support, and, incidentally, since someone mentioned it, it is Tuesday's child who is full of grace...But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day Is bonny and blithe and good and gay )
I agree with pps, I wouldn't use Sunday Grace bc then it becomes almost a religious statement.
I would be thrilled to meet a Sunday Kate.

Sunday is a gorgeous name which no one would bat an eyelid about here in Australia. Really there are sooo many more out there and frankly just bizarre names about. These are modern times and names are likely to change and evolve more and more, so when she's older I'm sure that a name like that won't be a big deal at all.
