Leo & Lucy...too similar?
So I love Leo, always have! Ideally, either the first or middle name of my future children will be literary. (For instance, Leo Atticus and Henry Albus). I'm a big Narnia fan, and Lucy has always been my favorite character. However, with Leo, is it too close? Sometimes, when I say them, it sounds fine, but other times I almost sound like I'm stuttering! I can't think of a name I can sit with as well as Lucy
If Lucy and Leo work well....what middle name would work well with Lucy?
Thanks, berries!

Re: Leo & Lucy...too similar?
Leo and Lucy make a fine pair! Sure, they both begin with "L" but then sound different the rest of the way! Does that make sense? Leo Atticus is a great combination. Here are some suggestion for Lucy's middle name.
Lucy Matilda
Lucy Delphine
Lucy Josephine
Lucy Bernadette
Lucy Caroline
Lucy Camille
Lucy Dolores
Lucy Evangeline
Lucy Claire
Lucy Emmeline
Lucy Garnet
Lucy Geraldine
Lucy Mirabel
Lucy Jessamine
Lucy Madeleine
Lucy Maeve
Lucy Maude
Lucy Marguerite
Lucy Cordelia
Lucy Frances
Lucy Violet
Lucy Charlotte
Lucy Amelia
Lucy Pearl
Lucy Ramona
Lucy Valentine
Lucy Theodora
Lucy Mabel
Lucy Eleanor
Lucy DelilahAll the best,
Mischa.

Re: Leo & Lucy...too similar?
This is very funny, because my daughter's name is Lucy, and I'm expecting my third baby now and if this is a boy, his name will be Leo. My only concern is that they both start with L, and our oldest's name doesn't, his name is Noah. But other than the fact that they both start with L, I don't think they're too similar at all!

Bumping this old thread up because this is our current dilemma...
We've got less than 2 weeks until baby girl's arrival and she is still not named. Eek! Big brother is named Leo.
I still love Jane but I am never going to convince my husband on that one. We had kind of compromised at Zoe because I was starting to freak out that she didn't have a name, but something about Zoe isn't doing it for me. Other names we are still poking around are Ivy, Audrey, and Susannah (my husband likes this one, but I'm not crazy about it).
This week I've been coming back around to really loving the name Lucy, which is one that we both have mentioned over the last few months. I would be the last person on earth who would do matchy-matchy sibling names on purpose, including alliterative names. The matchy factor is one of the things that I think is bugging me about Leo and Zoe. Somehow I think it's actually *better* with Leo and Lucy, even though they both start with L.
My husband is still not totally convinced and thinks they are too similar.
What do you all think?

I was in the same boat! If you'd have asked me Before, I would have said I'd Never give kids Matchy-names. But, time changes and things happen...lol. Here we are with a Conor, and b/g twins on the way. Cormac and Cordelia. There's a whole lot of matchy going on there. But, it wasn't on Purpose. I didn't set out to be matchy. And, I had a GREAT deal of dilemma about it. In the end, we decided to just go for it. The names were thought of separately. We both love them each, separately. It's Very hard to find a name that both parents feel the same way about. In the end, if you both really like it, I say use it no matter what. And now after I let myself talk myself into doing it (after WEEKS of pouring over name lists and driving myself and my husband crazy), I realized that no other names gave me those same feelings. And now, I'm 100%, absolutely, content and happy with the choices. My husband never wavered on it. He couldn't understand why I all of a sudden had a problem with it.
Names stick with a child for life, but there's No way to predict how they'll feel about a name. All any of us can do is pick one that we like and hope they'll like it too. It's a risk with each and every name out there. Go with what you feel. Starting out life with a sweet name that both of your parents enjoy saying, and happily agreed on to help you begin your life, is a great gift.
If you're like me, and interested in all of my background name drama here are links to my discussions.

Also...these names are for life, not just for when they are little. Their names will be said together a lot now, but less and less the older they get. If you choose Lucy or Zoe or anything else, it's not going to be as strongly connected to Leo through the next (hopefully) 100 years of their lives, as it will be during this first bit.
And, I'd love to know what you decide on in the end!
