    Re: Naming twins

Hello! I have twins boys, so here's what I did - maybe it will help you out!

While I was expecting, my husband and I picked out our boys names: Pax and Milo. Like many of the previous posters have said, we were originally unsure of how we wanted to dish out the names. We feared that a name wouldn't automatically fit with an infant (our boys are identical so that would have been really tough!), and so we just kind of put off deciding. Finally, a few days before they were born, we both realized that we had been saying Pax and Milo, Pax and Milo, but never really Milo and Pax when referring to the in utero boys. So, when they were born, we decided to give the first one the name Pax and the second one the name Milo just because that's the order we tended to say them. I still say them that way (they are three and a half now!) and they have really grown into their names.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much. You could try fitting a name to an infant to see which one just grabs which baby, but, it might be nice to have an order in mind (possibly correlating to their birth order) just in case that doesn't happen.

    Hope this helps!

I don't know how far along you are, but we named are twin boys in utero. They don't really shift sides/positions, so Baby A became Jonathan, and Baby B became Carlos. After four more months of feeling them move, knowing which one was more energetic, which got hiccups most often, I knew them and their personalities, and it went with their name. When delivery day came, I was waiting to see Jonathan and Carlos, not baby strangers. For me, that was the beauty of knowing genders before delivery day.

Maybe it will help to pay attention to their movement patterns and what you can guess about their temperaments. It might help you decide which name fits.

    Re: Naming twins

My son just asked me what I was reading, and I said, "A mommy doesn't know which twin to name which name." He thought for a second and said, "Eenie meenie miney mo." So, there's that. Sorry, I've never been a mother of twins (even though I might because I have twin sisters, and both my parents are twins, so the whole multiple thing is in my blood or something.) so I don't really know.
Mother of the 6-year-old finger-painter, Benjamin Henry (and proud of it, too)

Also proud to be the mother of blue-eyed twins, Amelia Joy and Athena Maya, born Thursday, August 4, 2011.
