The Latest Four...(Poll!)

Hey, berries!
I'm sure most of you know the struggles we've been having on deciding a name for DD #2 due on 11/1. DD#1 is named Gabriella Grace, nn Gaby. Anyway, if you could help us choose, I would love some input.

Here's a little background on the choices, if you'd like:

Annabel: DH's fave choice; I like it a lot too but am not very fond of Anna, and am concerned about the similarity to Gabriella. Is it too much? NN, if any, would hopefully be Belle.

Ava: Like how it complements Grace in Gaby's name; brings a "Hollywood glamour" feel to the combo!

Madeleine: DH's second fave choice; it's ok, but I'm concerned re: its popularity. Would try Madda for a nn instead of Maddie.

Stella: My fave girl name ever, but could never use it as a FN due to Gabriella (that's way too similar, even for me. )

Sophia: We are both ok with this name, it doesn't rhyme with Gabriella, and Sophie and Gaby are very cute together, IMO. I also like how they seem very similar in style, etc. Again, though, popularity is an issue with this one.

Scarlett: I like this name, DH not entirely fond of it. I like the spark it adds to Sophia. He seems to be ok with the combo, though.

Vivien: My 2nd fave name to Stella; I prefer Vivienne, but DH isn't a fan but is "ok" with the Vivien spelling, for some reason.

Lily: one of DH's fave names; I think it's ok for a mn.

Hi Erica, I hope some more people give you opinions, especially on the issue of Annabel's similarity to Gabriella (if any) and Sophia's popularity! I think some fresh opinions would help!

I voted for Vivien Lily - it's my fav combo, I love how it sounds with Gabriella, I love that you can call her Vivi and Brent can call her Lily or Vivi-Lil, and I love that Vivien continues the Hollywood theme :-)

I also voted for Annabel Ava in second place if Brent won't come round to Vivien when she's actually here, because I love Annabel, I think the combo sounds fantastic and really fresh and it's the one you most agree on.

So yeah that's my opinion! Love Sophia Scarlett too but I know Sophia is super super popular, that's the only thing that detracts from this combo in my eyes. It's popular for a reason though. It's a beautiful name and one of my all time favs! Madeleine Stella is my least fav just because I like Madeleine but don't love it like I do the other 3 names. I like all 4 though so I don't think you can go wrong at this point!

Would be interesting to know how Brent ranks these 4 now? I'm guessing Annabel, Madeleine, Sophia, Vivien. And it'd be interesting to know how you'd rank them! And if Brent's coming round to the idea of actually using Vivien at all?

Yes, it would be interesting to see where he stands on the 4...I def agree with you re: Annabel and Madeleine, but I'm really interested to see about Vivien vs Sophia. Maybe they've flip-flopped? He had to go to work this morning, so depending on what kind of mood he's in when he gets home I'll ask, lol!

I wish we could still edit our posts, I almost wonder if I should have done only one choice instead of up to two. oh well. Yes, and I hope we get some comments too on Annabel and Sophia, although since Annabel is #2 right now, maybe most don't think it's a prob? I love polls...we shall see! Yeah it's a shame about the editing! It's very on and off at the moment, I think I could edit posts yesterday! But I don't think you can edit a poll once someone votes anyway. I think when you narrow it down to 2 or 3 that you and Brent agree on, perhaps do one more poll with the option to only vote for 1!

And you're most welcome I know the time's getting closer now so I really hope we can help you feel some peace with the situation and not feel so stressed!! hehe.

One thing's for sure, whichever name you pick this is going to one beautifully named little girl!! (Still crossing my fingers for little Vivi lol)

I voted for Madeleine Stella -- If you are ok w/ the nn Madda I definitely think that is 'do-able' to avoid Maddie. It's only one sound off and people will catch on quickly. Madda is a cute nn too. I think this name is perfect for you guys because it's been a fav. of your DH and you seem to like it too. Stella brings in your favorite name ever.

I also voted for Sophia Scarlett because Sophia sounds best with Gabriella in my opinion (of these 4). Sophia is beautiful and Scarlett does add a little sassiness to the name. I like the continued alliteration from Gaby's name and think this would be a great overall choice for you guys... because it's Sophia, which can both like, but don't any one-sided strong attachments to it (does that make sense?) and Scarlett is maybe a little favored to "your" side, but DH doesn't dislike it and it really makes a great mn for Sophie.

Hey ladies! I've had a busy week so I haven't caught up on all the posts on your other thread, Erica. It's so funny.....I feel like I'm in so much the same position as you. I have all these names that I like, but there's a drawback to each one. So I just haven't found the perfect one (and we'll most likely have the baby in another week or ten days! Aah!). Thankfully my husband and I do tend to agree on names, although he steers away from some of the less mainstream ones that I like (two of them also being Scarlett and Stella). Anyway, I have intended to create a post to ask for advice (thanks to all of you for encouraging me to do that!), so hopefully I'll do that today or tomorrow.

I voted for Annabel Ava. I also love the alliteration, especially to go with Gabriella Grace. I think Annabel is super cute and fresh-sounding, because you don't meet many of them. I think Sophia Scarlett is beautiful, but it would be a little too popular for me (like you said, I only know a couple of Sophies or Sophias personally but it's one of those names that you just hear all the time, like Emma or Ava or Isabella).

The only thing I'd say about Vivien is that I think you'd end up having to spell it for people a lot......I know that I'd automatically spell it "Vivian" and I wasn't even aware of the "Vivien" spelling until I started browsing this website....

I do love Madeleine (it's on my list too) but I'm so afraid that people will call her "Maddie" automatically, even if we insist on calling her by her full name. And Maddie is another one that you hear so often right now.....so I just don't know!

I voted for Annabel Ava and Vivien Lily. I love Annabel and I don't think it's too similar to Gabriella, plus I think it's more important to have a name for each child that you love then to worry about whether they fit perfectly together. I like Madeleine and Sophia, but as a teacher, I have heard them both a lot and Annabel feels fresher to me. I also love the alliteration of Annabel Ava and Gabriella Grace and how both mn's have that old Hollywood feel to them. I like Vivien as well, but love Annabel Ava!

Thanks, berries!! The feedback is so great. I'm glad you guys don't feel Annabel is too similar; at least it helps knock off one "drawback" from all these names.

Glad I could help! I also wanted to add that the few Annabels that I've had just go by Annabel and I've never felt the urge to call them Anna or Annie nor have they gone by nicknames. With Madeleine, although I do get more Madelines, they are almost always called Maddie whether the parents intended for that to happen or not. It just seems to come naturally and I think you'd have a tough time stopping it, so if you really hate Maddie, I'd probably steer clear of it. Just my two cents.

I voted for Sophia Scarlett. I really can't think of a better match for Gaby's name, and I adore the sound of that combination - so feminine, so elegant, so amazing! I haven't heard of many people naming little girls "Sophia," and in my experience, "Sophie" is more popular - I went to high school with three girls called Sophie, and they were all just Sophie. Now, again, I don't hang around with babies all the time, but I have a friend who works at a daycare, and she hasn't mentioned a single Sophia. As for my fellow students, there are just 13 Sophia's here - just a side note, one is a Sophia Madeleine, one is a Sophia Vivian, and one is a Sophia Louise (Jane)! So, that's just my perspective...

Oh, I wasn't aware we could choose two options, so I only chose that one. Hm. I really have to think about what would be my second choice! Madeleine Stella seems to be off, flow-wise, for me - just a little, little bit. Vivien Lily has rhyming I sounds, but that isn't a huge deal - it's pretty. Annabel Ava is gorgeous, but there's the whole Anna vs. Belle debacle and the fact that Gabriella and Annabel - even though they don't sound as similar to me anymore - both have ELLE in them, sound-wise. Yep, nothing is as perfect to me as Sophia Scarlett. Ah, God, I'm just going to take the plunge and "vote" for Annabel Ava on here as my #2 because I like alliteration.
