    Meet my daughter Melrose.

Say: Hello, Melrose! What a pretty name you have!
Think: I like it! I love how she could have the nickname Mel or Rose, whichever fits her personality best.

Hi, this is my daughter Zoey.

    Re: Think/Say

    Say: Hey there, cutie!
Think: UGH! Why would you ever ruin a beautiful name like Zoe by adding that stupid 'y'?

Hey, this is my son, Llewellyn.

pet peeves: nicknames as given names; unconventional spellings; masculine names on girls
not-so-guilty pleasures: five-syllable girls' names; virtue and nature names; over-the-top antique names for boys
(if i repeat name suggestions in a thread, it's because i like them! no apologies here for repeats of great names! )

IF YOU LOVE IT, USE IT!

I would love you to meet my son Prewitt.

Say: Hi Prewitt! Can I call you Prew?

Think: His parents must be big fans of From Here to Eternity. Some last names like Asher translate well to first names and some don't! This is one of those names.

I'd like to introduce my daughter Persis.

I'd like to introduce my daughter Persis.

Say: Hi, Persis! What a unique name!
Think: It reminds me of the word "purses", but that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially if she turns out to be girly and likes purses. But it is unique, which I like. Not bad!

    Hello, meet my daughter Anna.
