Does Callan sound like an invented name?

Callan doesn't sound invented to me. I quite like it actually. It's different enough not to sound trendy and I love the nickname Cal! Super cute. Here are a few other ways to get Cal, some are a bit out there- though I do really like Callan:

Not really. I wasn't familiar with it, but I could tell it had the look of an established name.

(Every time I read the title, I read it as "Does Callan sound like an inverted name?" and wonder why anyone would think that.)

It actually reminded me of Callaghan. I like Callan a lot better than Callum, that's for dang sure!

I know a Callen, and I think it's a wonderful name!
But beware- it's unusual, so some people might mispronounce it on first glance... 'Callen' was called up during a ceremony as 'Colleen.' He said it happens all the time. Just something to keep in mind!

Over here in OZ there was a Callan Park Mental Institution other than that I have never heard of it.

I think it does sound invented. My friends have a Cal that stands alone (siblings are Evie, Mary and Len).
