Studio Ghibli fan? I see Arrietty in your guilty pleasures list and Calcifer as your kitty name...

I have also considered using Arrietty, but my husband and I have conflicting opinions on how it should be pronounced. I prefer "Arr-ietty" and he likes "Air-rietty"

I pronounced it like in the movie, Air-ee-et-tee, and yes I love Studio Ghibli.

I love names that end in -ia (and to a lesser extent, -ina) sounds for girls.

    Victoria
    Octavia
    Lavinia
    Alexandria
    Cecilia
    Ophelia
    Cordelia
    Livia
    Sophronia

    Seraphina
    Aleksandrina
    Katarina

I love the sounds in those names - they just seem so romantic. Impractical, and kind of unusable (and Cordelia is a total stripper name where I live, despite being my fave). I guess the kid inside me still likes names that sound like Princess names - when I was very young, I named my kittens Araminta and Raoul.

I probably have more guilty pleasure names for boys than girls but here goes.

Autumn - it's my favorite season but I doubt I'd ever use it, even if I had a baby in the fall.
Gigi - it's such a cute nickname but couldn't do that to a child
Poppy - from Penelope but those dang Kardashians took that one off the table.
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
    ~William Shakespeare

Arabella is pretty indeed, but if you really want the nn Ara, try Araceli. I had a Spanish exchange student with that name!
