    Re: What is your name?

    Melissa Lee

I like my name now that I am older, didn't care for it when I was younger. Had a lot of melissa's in school growing up- it was a popular name around the time I was born. I have my mom's middle name.

    Re: What is your name?

Caitlyn Michele (I go by Caty or Cate)

Personally, I love my name but hate the spelling. I like Caitlin or Kaitlin much better, as well as Michelle. 'Yn' endings are too trendy for me, and always result in my name being spelled wong.

    Re: What is your name?

    My name is Christena Kay.

I really don't like my name. it's spelled in a traditional Danish way (I'm named after my great great Aunt). My mother didn't realize that Christena isn't normally spelled that way because her sister is also named after the Great Aunt Christena and she'd never met another christina to see the difference (hard to believe...). It's pronounce the same as Christina but inevitably, i have a teacher on the first day of class that says "chris-ten-a". They gave me a short middle name because of the three syllable first name and a four syllable last name.

My father wanted to name me Marva or Minerva. I'm glad i didn't either one of those because I can't stand the nn Mini and I'm am NOT cool enough to pull of Marva.

My name is Minuette Cherie (pronounced min-u-et-eh sheh-ree). I have gone by Minnie most of my life because I got fed up of people mispronouncing my name!

I love my name when people get it right (which hardly ever happens). Do get a little tired of explaining both pronunciation and spelling to people all the time though. Minnie is just easier but then you get the mouse comments... I acquired the nickname Mousie in college which I don't mind.

    Re: What is your name?

    GREAT thread!

    Erica Lynne.

I guess I was always bored with my name when I was younger...I remember asking my mom once when I was little, "Why did you name me Erica? Why didn't you name me something cool, like Alice?" It was nice though because my name isn't unusual, but it's not super common, so I was always the only Erica in my classes. The weird thing is if someone doesn't remember my name, I ALWAYS get called Jessica. I've been called Jessica like 98,000 times. I get called Erin sometimes too.

I get my name spelled wrong a lot, though. Everyone always spells my name with a "k" even if the correct spelling is right in front of them! I don't know what's up with that. And ppl forget the "a" a lot too, so I get "Eric" (spelled with a "c", oddly enough!).

Ok, weird. Apparently Erica is really difficult. Anyway, I've just always been ok with my name. It is pretty dated now, I guess. I do like the meaning though. (Ever-powerful ruler.)

Lynne was the 80s super filler middle name. Apparently my mom wanted to name me "Erica Star" and my dad HATED Star LOL! So my mom picked Lynne. I dropped that when I got married and changed my middle name to my maiden name.

    Re: What is your name?

    Claire Justine
I like it because it is classic yet unique. I hardly ever meet another Claire (except for small children, lately). I feel like my parents put a lot of care into selecting my name.

    Re: What is your name?

My family has a tradition of giving english names, and then translating the english names into hebrew names, so that my siblings and I all have English names with Hebrew names that match.
My English names are Amanda Laura, and my hebrew names are Leeba Atara. All together, it's Amanda Laura Leeba Atara.
Leeba means love (like Amanda), and Atara means crown (similar to Laura-laurel)

I've always just gone by Amanda. People occasionally try to shorten it to Mandy, which I can't stand. Amanda isn't my favorite name in the world, but it could have been worse. I was born in 83, when Amanda was super common. I guess that the good thing about my name is that I never have to pronounce or spell it for people. It's easy and safe.

I like Laura as my middle name, dislike Leeba, and am ok with Atara.

    My name is Savannah Rae.
Personally, Savannah isn't my favorite, but it is different but not weird. I used to hate my middle name but now I absolutely love it! Rae is after my great-grandmother and we were really close, so it has special meaning. I plan to keep it as my middle name whenever I get married.
