    Re: Galatea and Pandora

I love Pandora, nn Panda, mostly due to the awesomeness of the character on Skins (UK teen TV show). It's a cute name too, IMO.

I'm not quite so keen on Galatea, though I do like it. It's a nice name, and I really like the nn Tea for it. I pronounced it Gah-la-tee-uh, but I'm probably totally off.

I would expect Galatea to be with the long E sound - it's Greek! I'd say it belongs on a list of "The most beautiful names you aren't using".

Pandora wouldn't be my taste anyway.

    my car's name is Galatea.

pet peeves: nicknames as given names; unconventional spellings; masculine names on girls
not-so-guilty pleasures: five-syllable girls' names; virtue and nature names; over-the-top antique names for boys
(if i repeat name suggestions in a thread, it's because i like them! no apologies here for repeats of great names! )

IF YOU LOVE IT, USE IT!

They seem rather dramatic, but I happen to be in a mood today where that's a good thing.

I really like Pandora; I don't really like Galatea but it sounds good next to Pandora as a sibset. Overall, I'm not sure if they would be good names for actual children to have but they're not bad names.
