I love the name Ponette. I have tried googling it but theres nothing on it! Is it really a name, or just a nickname for a little girl (it means "pony"? Does anyone know anything- other than the film?

It's not a real person's name, la ponette is a little poney (pony) no one uses this as an actual person's name in France, sometimes the names you seen in movies like Ponette would not be realistically used or theyre just nn's given as a character name.
My favorite French names are in my signature but I also like Colombe, Nadege, Gaspard, Calixte, Anselme, Sixtine, Capucine, CelestineLast edited by thetxbelle; June 29th, 2012 at 11:14 PM.

I don't know if they are used very much right now in France, but my favourites are probably Delphine, Marguerite, and Marie. Delphine reminds me of delphiniums, such a classic but not snobby blue flower. Marguerite is a lovely mixture of meanings (pearl and daisy) and just so pretty to hear. And I know Marie is a bit pale and out-of-style but it is just a charming and pretty FN - underused as a first.
Margaux I might classify as more of a guilty pleasure.
