I only know of Gael as a male name said something like (guy-EL).

Love the name Gail, but please do not butcher it by spelling it Gael - that just looks wrong, too masculine and is probably pronounced differently. Just go with Gail, it's a sweet name x

Gail is great on its own, but personally I prefer the spelling Gail as compared to Gael for a girl. Its sweet, pretty. The only nickname I can think of for a short name like this is 'G.'
