They had decided together they just knew it would be a girl, so they were content to argue over boy names. (She loved August, but he preferred Gus). A week after giving birth, they chose the name Carl. Now, sitting on our coach, she looked at the sweet child, and said, "I can't believe I have a baby named Carl." My wife and I are due Jan. 15, and we are in name limbo, but both agree, we don't want a Carl situation.
We don't know the gender either. We have a three year-old boy, and his name is Elias (we call him Eli mostly).
Names we kind of like in various degrees but aren't convinced:
    Boys:
    Abraham
    Aristotle
    Cormac
    Leo
    Pascal

    Girls:
    Clementine
    Edith
    Sadie
    Scarlett
    Stella
    Tessa
    Violet

Thanks baby naming universe ... would LOVE some feedback and suggestions!
Like all your names EXCEPT Aristotle. That one is just awful and cruel, IMO.

Have you considered Teresa/Theresa (NN Tess or Tessa)?
Have you considered Estelle (NN Stella)?

Re: Need help... Baby Due Jan. 15!

Hi! I love Elias so much! :-)

    Boys:
Abraham: I think Abraham is a great name (and love the Abe or Bram nicknames, too), and think it would be wonderful with Elias.

More Biblical names I can see with Elias:

    Benjamin
    Gideon
    Gabriel
James (S ending like Elias, though)
    Nathaniel
    Raphael
    Samson

Aristotle: I know it's Greek like Elias, but it's pretty "out there" to me, but then again, I think it depends on where you live. At the very least, I think it would make a cool middle name.

More Greek names you may like:

    Alexander (popular, though)
    Augustin
    Basil
    Sebastian (Latin from Greek)
Theodore (I love Theodore with Elias!)

Cormac: I think Cormac is very handsome...

    Names you may like:

    Beckett
    Cashel
    Declan
    Dashiell
    Finnian
    Griffin
    Phinean
    Quillen
    Rafferty
    Ronan

Leo: I love Leo so much, but it feels pretty similar to Elias' middle sound me.

Names that remind me of Leo:

    Arlo
    Arthur
    Augustin
    Calvin
    Conrad
    Dashiell
    Dexter
    Everett
    Edward (E theme, though)
    Franklin
    Frederick
    George
    Henry
    Hugo
    Jude
    Milo
    Oliver
    Peter
Simon (then again, it has Elias' S and long I sounds...)
    Theodore
    Victor

Pascal: I can't help but think of the Pascal lamb, so I like some of your other names more...(I think some of the others work better with Elias, too...)

    Girls:
Clementine: I love Clementine, and think that Cleo is a great nickname.

Edith: I like some of your others more...

Sadie: I can better see some other names with Elias...

    Scarlett: I really love Scarlett!

Stella: I think it's a great name, but because it contains "el," I think it's too similar to Elias.

Tessa: I think it's very pretty...

Violet: I love Violet, but I can personally better see a name that doesn't share Elias' long I sound.

More names you may like with Elias:

    Cora/Cordelia
    Clara
    Daphne
    Flora
    Genevieve (nn Evie)
    Georgia/Georgina
    Helena (oops...El sound)
    Juliet
    Josephine (nn Josie or Posey)
    Louisa
    Lydia
    Mirabel/Mirabelle
    Matilda
    Margaret (nn Maisie or Daisy)
    Margo
    Nora
    Penelope (nn Nell or Poppy)
    Phoebe
    Tabitha
    Ruby
    Vivian
    Willa

Names that remind me of Sadie:

Addie (as a nickname for Adele, Adelia, or Adelaide)
    Daisy
    Evie
    Hazel
    Ivy
    Mae
Maisie (or as a nickname for Margaret)
    Nell
    Ruby
    Sally
    Sosie

Like I said, I absolutely love your son's name! :-)

    Best wishes to you! :-)

    Hi,

I think Abraham, Leo, Tessa, Violet, and Charlotte are the best on your lists. (A kid named Pascal might get called "rascal," and Aristotle would probably get teased a lot.) Your other names have potential though.
Mother of three teenagers: (1) Daniel Glen, (2) Timothy Austin, and (3) Rebecca Jane. All middle names honor family, with Jane used three generations in a row. (A second girl would have been Susanna Eve.
