    Still struggling...

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped over these nine months!

Unfortunately I am still struggling some... I am due in 11 days but hope to have her sooner, and I want to be sure that going into the delivery we have a few different choices that we feel really good about so that when we see her we can pick which one suits her best.

Right now I have drawbacks with all of the names we liuke but I don't want to feel like I am just picking the lesser of four evils. I want to feel really good about our options and I am hoping you can help!

Our last name begins with P and rhymes with Purple. Its eastern european so it only has one vowel, which makes it kind of hard to match up with things that look and sound good.

Middle name will be Marie, family tradition I want to keep.

I have red hair and so does my sister so we're thinking this will likely be a little redhead with blue eyes.

The four names we are considering right now (and their stories) are below... Sorry its long.

    Lucia Marie (Lou-sha) nn Lucy
Lucia means "Light" and Saint Lucia is the patron saint of the blind. This has meaning for us as DH's brother is losing his vision and we hope that someday our childs cord blood mightrestore his vision help via stem cell transplant based on current research being done. I also like the idea of her bringing light into our lives. December 13th is St. Lucia Day in sweden (I am mostly swedish). My concerns with this name are that it can be pronounced in several ways and I am getting the sense that even in the US Lou-sha might not be the most common pronounciation.

    Alexandra Marie nn Andie
Alexander is a strong family name on DH's side and my grandfathers name is Anderson, whom we always called Grampa Andy. If we don't use this for a girl we may keep it for a boy to name Anderson some day. There is a girl (friend of the family) whom I am not fond of with the name Alexandra and it bothers me some that she might think she was named after her in some way... But the other part of me feels like I shouldn't let her stop me from using a great name.

    Elliott Marie
DH loves this, I like it too but worry she might not love having a boys name someday and it feels trendy, which cheapens it. Is it trendy? Also I don't like nn Ellie so I am not certain I can avoid this.

    Rowan Marie nn Remi
Rowan means little redhead and I like that its unisex. Both DH and I love the nn Remi and this is DH's favorite way to get there... Does it matter that its not the traditional nn? Is it confusing?

Okay so I think that covers it!!!

Any thoughts you have on the above are much appreciated, though I am not looking for lots of suggestions for other names. Thanks in advance!

Lucia is my very favorite of your choices, with Alexandra following closely.

Thanks ladies... Can I ask how you would first pronounce Lucia when reading it?

I like Alexandra the best, then Lucia.
Not too found of Elliot or Rowan for a girl, but I'm not a fan of the 'let's-give-our-little-baby-girls-boy-names' trend as a rule.
