A good fit with his siblings

    Hi everyone,

We are due with our fourth child (third son) in December. We always found boys' names quite hard and I had our daughter's name picked pregnant with number 1. I would llike to give our next son a name that fits well with his brother's and sister's names too.

Our children's names are: Frazer (son), Clayton (son) and Harper (daughter)

In no particular order boys' names we like:

    August
    Reid
    Hunter
    Easton
    Rafferty
    Hudson (maybe too popular)
    Cole (family name)

We were thinking the middle name will be after my brother, his name is RENO. Although my Mum suggested using my name (LANE) as the mn as it is technically a boys' name. I was a little worried that he'll grow up wondering why he has his Mummy's name...What do you think?

Thanks heaps for your help :-)

    Hi! :-)

August: I really love this name, but I think that some of the others on your list are more in line with your kids' names. (I can see August as a sibling to Frazer, but less so to Clayton and Harper.) I do love it though! :-)

Reid: I think it's perfect with Frazer, Clayton, and Harper!

Hunter: I think it's too similar to Harper, with the H beginning and er ending.

Easton: I prefer some of the other names on your list...

Rafferty: I think this is really handsome, and I can definitely see it with your kids' names.

Hudson (maybe too popular): It's #176 now, but I can definitely see it becoming more popular.

Cole (family name): Cole is really popular now, clocking in at #84 at the moment. (Edit: I listed the U.S. popularity, and I'm guessing you're in the U.K. due to the "mum" reference.)

From your list I'm voting for Reid, although I don't think it works with the middle names you're considering, Reno or Lane.

I don't think that using your name in the middle would be a problem, but if it bothers you, that's what counts.

Some more names you may like:

Anderson Lane (the -son is kind of close to Clayton's ending, though)
    Abbott Reno (nn Abe)
    Bennett
    Conrad
    Donovan Reno
    Everett Lane
    Harrison Reno
    Jude
    Maxfield
    Pierce
    Roman
    Truman
    Vaughn
    Wilson

    Good luck! :-)

    I like Reid too.

Where we live there is a saying 'Rafferty's Rules' which indicates a kind of mayhem so while it may have a rakish twist to it I wouldn't use it.

Frazer (son), Clayton (son) and Harper (daughter) and:
August- like the name but dont think it goes with your others kids names
    Reid- same as above imo
    Hunter- Goes well with others
Easton- Same but not really my style but if you like it go with it:)
Rafferty- Yay! One of my faves really love this name
Hudson - becoming popular but if you really like it who cares
Cole - maybe as a middle name?

Lane would be a good middle name he will no doubt like it when he's older, names that honour someone important is cool, Lane to me doesnt sound too feminine either and can work for a boys name .

    Heres a few suggests,
    Adler
    Baxter
    Bailey
    Blair
    Bolton
    Boyd
    Byron
    Chester
    Cooper
    Corey
    Denver
    Logan
    Mackenzie
    Morgan
    Porter
    Sullivan
    Taylor or Tyler
    Wilson

August Lane or Hudson Reno. I think using Lane is a great idea! I know of girls who have their father's name (or variations of it) and boys who have their mothers. Why not?
