Re: Twin girl names for sister Dottie

I also like the nickname Posy for Josephine.

I think Dorothy, Margaret, & Josphine are so sweet together and with adorable nicknames - Dottie, Daisy, & Posy. Plus, you can continue the flower theme with their nicknames and find other fabulous middle names for them.

Love the name Dorothy Violet BTW. Great choice.

    Good luck!

Oh, yes, I LOVE your little girls' name! :-) Love it! :-)

I have to admit that Addison has kind of tainted the Addie nickname for me, because when I hear Addie these days (which is a lot, because Addison is ranked #12 in popularity now), I jump to the conclusion that the baby is an Addison. Granted, that's not fair to all of the Adelines and Adelaides out there, but I do immediately think of Addison when I hear Addie.

I'm someone who always worries about potential teasing, so I'm surprised I never though about "laid" jokes. Wow! I can't believe I missed that! Even so, for me, the Addison connection is more concerning to me. (I wouldn't worry about the laid part.) This is just my little opinion, so please don't let it stop you from using a name you love!

I just love Matilda, and can totally see a little Matilda/Tilly as Dorothy's sibling. I know it doesn't fit in with the floral theme, but I just love Matilda June. :-) Too bad Matilda Juniper doesn't have the best flow. :-) I think that Juniper would be a darling middle name!

Have you considered Posy as a middle name? I love Matilda Posy! I really love Matilda Poppy, too! :-)

I don't know what names you like from the names that have been suggested, so just for fun:

    Celia Juniper
    Clara Juniper
    Elsa Juniper
    Louisa June(Juniper)
    Mabel Juniper
Priscilla June (not the best with Juniper)
    Vivian Juniper

Names with Daisy (I love it in the middle!) :-)

    Evangeline Daisy
    Genevieve Daisy
    Josephine Daisy (popular, though)
    Priscilla Daisy
Viola Daisy (may be too floral, though)

Juniper as a first name (I think I read you like this up front):

    Juniper Frances
    Juniper Louise
    Juniper Mae

    Lilac:

Genevieve Lilac (nn Evie or Vivi)
    Josephine Lilac
    Penelope Lilac

    Lavender:

    Celia Lavender
    Louisa Lavender
Phoebe Lavender (not the oldest sounding name, though)
    Sylvia Lavender
    Vivian Lavender
    Zelda Lavender

    Iris:

    Mirabel(le) Iris
    Penelope Iris
    Winifred Iris

Rosalie (less popular than Rose in the middle):

    Augusta Rosalie
    Beatrix Rosalie
    Florence Rosalie
    Mabel Rosalie

    Good luck! :-)

Edit: They're very popular, but Lillian and Eveyln have Dorothy's vintage feel to me, so I thought I'd suggest them. :-)

Eleanor (Ellie or Nora) Nellie is also a nn right? - yes!

    Beatrix - nn Trixie? maybe.

Frances nn Francie - maybe - Also Frannie
Opal - prefer Pearl - yeah, me too, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Have you ever heard of Adelaide's getting picked on because of the "laid" part? My husband is playing devil's advocate right now and posed that question. - yes, I have, but she could be Addie when she's young, and by the time she gets older, hopefully people will mature.

Love Millikate's idea of Josephine! Perfect!

    Millikate,

LOVE Dorothy, Margaret and Josephine together!!! YAY!!!!!

    Dottie, Maggie and Josie:
    or
Dottie, Daisy and Posey (Then I have my flower nns) Love both sets of nicknames! Either of them work.

Very Little Women, but I already have one from Oz! ;-)

I totally didn't make the Little Women connection (and I love that book) probably b/c they were always called Jo, Beth, Amy, & Meg. I never really thought about their real names. :)
