What do you think of Lirit?

In pursuit to find the meaning of a family name I stumbled across the name Lirit.
It's Hebrew and means "musical". I think I would nn Liri (lear-ee). Does anyone know more about this name? What do you think, thumbs up or thumbs down? It probably wont pass the husband test seaming how Lyric failed miserably.

Re: What do you think of Lirit?

Sorry, not really a fan. It sort of looks like a typo to me. There are some great "musical" names out there. Do any of these appeal to you?

    Allegro/a
Aria (one of the front runners if my hubby and I have a girl)
    Cadence
    Calliope
    Celeste
    Etude
    Lark
    Melody
    Piper
    Reed
    Sonata
    Viola
Rhapsody (actually knew someone with this name...she's in her 20's now...she got made fun of in our small little town 20 years ago...fyi)

Or you could use a musician's name
    Aretha - tho I think of a body part....ick
    Alanis
    Ashanti
    Beck
    Bowie
    Coltrane
    Denver
    Dion
    Duran
    Ellington
    Harrison
    Hendrix
    Jagger
    Joplin
    Joss
    Lennon
    Morrison
    Morrissey
    Odetta
    Pearl
    Quincy
    Ravi
    Wynton

Re: What do you think of Lirit?

This name sounded better to me yesterday. I guess I should take a day to really examine a name.

I do like Aria but it's close to my other girls names.
Cadence I like especially the with the nn Cadie but I see Caden - which is part of the whole Jaden, Hayden trend.
Allegra appeals to me on many levels. The meaning is great, Aly/Allie nn I just can't get past the allergy medicine with this name and it also reminds me of Viagra.
I do like the others, they're either just not the one or I can't sell them to hubby.

I like your idea of using a musician's name. Unfortunately my husband and I also have varying taste in music. I'd use the name Duran, he would cringe.

Thank you for your honesty it is much appreciated. :)

    That's what we're here for :)
Your daughters are Mia and Kira, right? (My puppy's name is Kyra...so I just LOVE your name choices :) )

Maybe some of my other favorites will work for you? (If I remember correctly, you don't want a long first name, right? I'll weed those out) And sorry if I'm repeating a lot, I can't remember all that was mentioned :)

    Brielle
    Camille
Isla (though maybe too similar to your other girls, but I love it :) )
    Maeve
    Mabel
    Nora
    Tess/a

Yep, Kira and Mia are my girls names. I love my dogs name Lola but darn if we gave it to her and didn't save it for a third. :(
My youngest (almost 5) was suggesting Ambrielle, I don't know where she heard it from.
I actually like the nn Bri/Brie/Bree. I ran Brielle by my husband and got the "it's okaaaay" come back which pretty much means never.
I love Nora of course once it's "okaaaay" by you know who.
Isla is my name Lisa scrambled. Isla is fairly new to me, I need more time to take it in.

We've dropped Lea and Leia from the running. Lea is just too much like Kira and Mia.

Sorry to say but it looks like a spelling mistake.

What about Lyric instead? I think Lyric is a cool girl's name and it sounds very similar.

Whoops - just saw the end of your note.

Too bad it failed the husband test (those crazy husbands -- you really can never tell what they will love or hate. I know I'm constantly surprised by what my husband will and won't consider, which is why I have to run them ALL by him!!)

I noticed you liked Lea and Leia (I LOVE THIS NAME!! And for some reason, Princess Leia isn't usually my first association with it, but perhaps because I am more familiar with it as a Hawaiian name), have you ever considered Leilani (lay-lah-nee)? It has a similar feel to Lea and Leia but doesn't sound as similar to your other girls' names. You could nn her Leila, Lani, Leelee, or even Leia once in a while. I personally don't care for Lirit, paired with Mia and Kira, it kind of sticks out like a sore thumb.

That's really cool that Isla = Lisa... that would be really special!
While I like Lea/Leia I do think its quite close to Kira and Mia.
Are you leaning away from all names ending in "a"? Any names you're leaning towards? Or any that the hubby actually likes? ;)

PS - I'm LOVING Ruby, as a sister to Mia and Kira :)

*edited to actually add names...I accidentally posted before I could :)
    Here's a few more: (no "a" endings :) )
    Iris
    Ivy
    Phoebe
Bryn (could get the Bre nn)
    Juliet
    Violet (ooo! i like)
    Abigail
    Claire
    Hope
    Lucy
    Rose
    Camille
Jolie/Joely (pronounced either jo-LEE or JOEL-ie..i personally like the 2nd)
    Haven
    Carys
Alice (can choose a name that starts with an "a" instead of ends with one)
    Auden
    Arden
    Esme
    Chloe
    Faith
Josie (perhaps as a nn for Josephine)
    Sloane
