    Please ~ I need suggestions!!

I'm a first-time mama to be, expecting in 8 weeks. I'll be a single mama, so I get to make this choice all on my own! I would greatly appreciate some help. I like unusual but not "weird" names. I like classic as well as nature-inspired names. I typically dislike nicknames, and don't care for most names with the sound "ee" at the end. My name is Claire McGrath; I really love my first name. I like the idea of staying in the Irish/Gaelic tradition, but that's not essential. Here are some ideas, PLEASE give me feedback on these and some new ideas, I would SO appreciate your help!

Rowan (Rowan Alexa? Alexa is a family name)
    Fiona
    Isla
    Beatrice
    Bronwyn
    Violet
    Rose
    Teagan

I can't wait to see your suggestions! Thank you!

Congratulations - you have some great names to choose from. I love Beatrice, Isla Rose and Alexa. I'm an Alexandra so there are a huge ammount of nicknames for that and Alexa (Ally, Lexie, Lex, Lux, Al). It seems the shorter the name the less likely a nickname will occur. If your not a nickname fan I'd go with something short and to the point.

Isla Rose/Bay/Wren/Rain ( in keeping with your nature theme)
    Beatrice Rose
    Alexa Teal/
Quinn Alexa ( Quinn is my all time favourite irish name )

    Good luck

-Hi Claire! I think your first name is beautiful as well! :)
As for the names you picked here, some are definitely NOT 'nickname-proof'.
Ie: 'Violet' = 'Vi', 'Beatrice' = 'Bea', etc.
I like 'Fiona' best from this list.

If you want to stick with the Irish/Gaelic tradition, I do have a few suggestions!:

-Aisling (Ah-shleeng); From the Old Irish asilinge 'dream, vision'. Also written Ashling.
-Ana (Aw-ne); An Old Irish Goddess Name.
-Bevin (Bay-vin) From the Old Irish 'woman' + 'sweet, melodious'.
    -Briana (Bree-a-na)--Irish in origin.
-Brigid, Bridget - Old Irish Goddess name, 'high, mighty'.
-Ceara (Ke-a-ra)l From the Old Irish Name, Cera, the meaning of which may be 'bright red].
-Deidre -- An Old Irish name.
-Eilise (Ay-leesh); The Irish form of Elizabeth.
    -Enya
    -Grania
-Maeve (Mayv); From the Old Irish name Medb 'intoxicating'.
-Moira, Maura, & Maurya -- Irish forms of the name Mary.
    -Maureen, Moreen
    -Margo
-Myrna, Morna --ancient name that may mean high-spirited.
-Nessa -- An Old Irish name.
-Nora, Norah -- An Irish version of the Latin name, Honora. A classic Irish woman's name.
-Riona -- From the Old Irish, 'queenly'.
-Shannon -- The name of the longest river in Ireland.
-Sheila --The Irish form of Cecilia.
-Sheeva -- From an old Irish name meaning 'peace' + 'good'.
-Tara -- from the Old Irish name Temair.
-Innes -- The Gaelic word for 'island'.
    -Iona
    -Kenna
-Lileas -- The Gaelic form of the name Lily.
    -Muriel
    -Osla
-Una -- From the Old Irish uan 'lamb'.

Best of luck!! BTW, I really like the name 'Alexa'. Beautiful!
    In current favor of...:
    Boys: Ian, John, Lincoln
    Girls: Marin, Lena, Mareina
