Re: Strong names for a girl?

I think this is the sweet spot that a lot of people try to hit. A pregnant friend of mine is naming her daughter Karson Elizabeth to try and hit it but I am like you - strong and competent shouldn't have to be a boy's name. I just read the name of the day - Elodie - over on appellationmountain. I think that name fits. I really like the other's suggestions of Honor, Julia, Fiona, Mercy, Theresa, and your Catherine. And yeah, I think that both Ruby and Alice definently hit that spot too. What about Kirsten, Abigail, Jane, Alexandra, Eliza, Helen, or Claire? (sorry if there are repeats, I tried to check). I think this is a cool topic.

Thanks for your suggestions! Isn’t it interesting how names come to have certain traits for us based on our experiences with them? Here are some I especially like. Can I get your impressions of the names?

    Rose
    Clara
    Louisa
    Jane
    Evelyn
    Eloise
    Julia
    Caroline
    Beatrice
    Anna
    Ada

If we have a boy, we’ve picked out the name Henry. Other names on our boys list are Samuel, Simon, and Lewis.
