Name_walrus, I have a nephew with your exact name, & he has always gone by Andrew.

I hated my name (Crystal) growing up (1970s) because I wanted something more popular, like Heather. Plus the men in my family always called me Cris and one sister even called me Crissy, which I absolutely hated. Then the 80s rolled around and that soap show Dynasty made Crystal more popular, yet everyone spelled it wrong--Christal, Krystle, etc. (I think the TV character spelled it with a K) So then everyone assumed my name was spelled creatively too.
Men are the only ones that give me compliments on it, and that's because they're imagining a stripper/playmate when they hear it! A more bookish yet elegant name would have suited me, as I'm more that type.
The funny thing is my mom wanted to name me Deborah. I don't think it suits me any better honestly.

My name is Wendii-Ayn Percie and I hate it with passion. I was maned after my grandmothers Wendy and Anne and my mum loved the name Percy for a boy. I would prefer to be called Wendy-Anne Percy but no I needed a Krey8ive spelling to make my life a misery. I hate having to spell it to every one that it is Wendii with to ii's and that Ayn is spelled a-y-n not Anne and Percie is a boys name seriously. I go by Winnie-Anne Pippa which people still spell wrong. Overall anything would have been better I really hate it

My name is Erin Louise. Erin is a name that my mom had liked for a long time, and Louise is after my aunt. I was originally going to be Erin Elyzabeth after my other aunt, but then my parents realized my initals would be EEW, which wouldn't be a very great monogram to bestow on anyone. So I was given Louise instead.
I love my name. There are a couple Erins in my town, but it doesn't matter to me. I like that my name isn't super trendy but isn't some weird, obscure name either. And my friends tell me that both my first and middle name really suit me. The only problem is they think that I need a nickname. I don't really want one and it's kind of hard to shorten Erin, so on occasion I'm Ernie or RinRin. But all in all, I really love my name.I'm Erin, a teenaged writer who loves names (and dessert).

I'm Nichole Marie. Hate hate hate my name. Nicole/Nichole is such a boring name. Also, it's not feminine in the slightest. Nicole/Nichole/Nikkole/etc. just seems terrible to me, and I have no idea how the name appeals to anyone. Marie, is nice but overly common and just used as a filler because nothing can make Nichole sound nice. Sometimes when I look at my name I see "hole"
which I absolutely hate, and you have no idea how often I get called "Nicholas/Nick" because when people read my name they see the "h" and assume it's Nicholas. I consider changing my name to something plain and simple, and won't be mistaked for a boys name, just about everyday. Also, Having to correct everyone who spells my name without the "h" and having to tell people where the "h" goes is overly annoying.Anja Evangeline.

I can't say I like mine very much at all. My parents picked Katrina, but little did they know I'd turn out to be a proper little nerd & grammar Nazi who thinks her own name is grossly misspelled due to the K :P So from about the age of 5 on, I wasn't too pleased. Then Hurricane Katrina hit, and...well...yeah.
I'll likely be legally changing my name within the next few years.

I'm Natacha Genevieve Flora. (Gene-vi-ev).
I hated my first name growing up, I wanted to change it to Calypso (not quite sure why). I didn't know anyone else with my name. Of course I would have preferred that my mom spell it correctly.
Genevieve I'm ok with, flora is after my Grandma (dislike the name, but its in honor of).
Now I love Natacha. I find it pretty, and like all the nickname possibilities. I would still like it to be spelled correctly though!Natacha - mother to Geneva SimoneRunning all my names past http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/a site that surveys people with the same name.
Current Favs:
Boys: Archer Sloan or Merrick
Girls: Indira Maren or Sloan

I'm Amy Lynn.....*yawn*
When I was young I hated my name because it was so short AND has no real nicknames. I tried to spell it Aimee for a while to give it some substance...but that didn't last. My mom's top contenders were Amanda, Amy, and Allison. She axed Amanda though because she didn't want me to be called Mandy (and for that I thank her...the last thing the 80's needed was another Amanda..lol). IDK why she decided to axe Allison but that is what I wish she had gone with (so I could be Ally if I chose).
Lynn is after one of her sisters....and the better of the options. I could have ended up Amy Jo or Amy Jean or Amy Ann after her....blech. Of the options I'm glad I was Amy Lynn.
Even though it was a popular name back then, there was one in the same kindergarten class as me but then she went to the Catholic school. Then there was another one in 4th grade...but then she moved. Then I was the only Amy in my class until the Amy from Kindergarten came to the HS in ninth grade. But even then I think in the four years of HS we only had one class together. Since then I've had one coworker with the name and a step-mother with the name (she spelled it Aimee but it was still weird). None of them had the same middle name though...they were Amy Joy, Amy Michelle and Amiee Rebecca.
I still don't love my name but I've decided it fits me. It's pretty straight forward and non-fussy...like me. You'd be surprised how many people spell it wrong though...I'm like...dude, it's three letters. lol. IDK why but I get it spelled Amie a lot.
Even with a short name that has no real nicknames...I have gotten a lot of them over the years...Aim, Aimers, Amy-Lou (idk where this came from but a lot of my dads family calls me this), Lou-lou (from Amy-Lou) and Ames. My personal favorite is Ames....most of my friends and coworkers call me this.
Had I been a boy my name would have been Michael James. (Again Mom, the 80's did NOT need another Michael). Michael is her all time favorite boy name..ever (to this day). James is my dads middle name.Last edited by rylane46; June 23rd, 2012 at 03:10 AM.

I'm Jennifer Ellen. I have never liked being named Jennifer because it was the most popular name in the year I was born and for several years before and after that. I was always one of at least three, if not five or six Jennifers in my class. Now that it's really gone down in popularity, I don't think a little girl born today named Jennifer would have the same problem. I wish it would become a bit more popular again so that it doesn't end of being a name associated with old ladies at some point, lol. If I ever have a daughter, I will definitely not name her Ava/Isabella/Sophia, etc. because I wouldn't want her growing up like I did, one of a million people her age with that name.
Ellen is also my mother's middle name which is after her mother, Eleanor. To this day I think "old lady" when I here Eleanor even though I don't find anything wrong with the name itself. Ellen is better but still, I have always wished I had a different first & middle name.
