Is there a term for waiting until childbirth to discover if it's a girl or boy?
What do you call the act of refraining from finding out the gender until birth? I'm under the impression that it quite possibly could be a colorful term. For example, there's the term "rainbow baby". "My husband and I have decided to be surprised" or "we're not going to find out the gender until its birthday" just seems like a lot to say. I have a son & a daughter (both genders were discovered during their pregnancies) but I'm considering not finding out the gender of any future child(ren). I was just curious if there's a simple term/phrase for this action.

I have never heard a term for this. Usually people just say, oh, no, we're waiting to find out. I have a friend who when people would ask, "boy or girl?" She would just say, "yes!"
But I would like to coin the term Kindersurprise for this. You know, like those chocolate eggs from Germany with a surprise toy inside? Everyone loves Kindersurprise. So now, when people ask, "Are you having a boy or a girl?" You can say, "It's a Kindersurprise!" No one would know what the heck you were talking about, but I think it would be fun.
