    While Nola is unusual, it has a familiar sound given the recent popularity of Nolan or the The Lion King character Nala. So I don't think it's too out there. I personally like some similar names more: Nora, Nina, Noelle, Noelia.

    I love the name and would definitely put it on my personal "usable" list, but it's usually used as a nickname for the city of New Orleans that I live near. It's out for me, but maybe it's perfect for you?

    If you don't live near or ever vist New Orleans I think it's good. Otherwise Nola just reminds me of a kind of obnoxious nickname for a city I wouldn't want to be named after
