    Whitaker is awesome! I wouldn't worry at all about using a traditional surname as a first- especially if you are in the US.. It's a common and well-accepted practice here.
    Why I love Whitaker for you:
    It's unusual.
    It's easy to spell and pronounce.
    It's a traditional name (nothing made up!) :-)
    It sounds dignified, but gives you the up-beat nickname Whit.

    And he's here....arrived 7/10 almost 3 weeks early.
    We went with Whitaker Harold (Harold after my husbands grandpa). and we love it. Thanks for your help!
