Boo! Don't replace Doris. It's a dignified Grecian beauty a side of vintage sassiness. If you must, Dorothea is lovely, and opens the door to Dot! Dot is fabulous - much better than Dottie imo, which immediately makes me think of doddering, dotty old ladies with feathered hats and cracked lipstick.

Dorothea is my favorite. Such a romantic name.

How do you feel about Doretta? I actually know a girl with that name.

“I am eternally, devastatingly romantic, and I thought people would see it because 'romantic' doesn't mean 'sugary.' It's dark and tormented — the furor of passion, the despair of an idealism that you can't attain.”

Dora by a mile, it fits perfectly with your list.

I voted for Dorothea, but I also like Dora and don't see any problems with Doris. Dottie is definitely a nickname to me and as such I prefer Dot.
